here is a good way to track the scores..

Link: Team Scores Summary - Men & Women

Link: Team Scores by Event - Men & Women

Link: Schedule by Event - Men & Women

I think it's hard to follow.. so I just look at these links occasionally..

I hope the girls stay on top, otherwise this will be the first academic year in a long, long time we won't win a single NCAA team title. Way to go, Stricklin!

Looking at the Finals participants.. I expect Arkansas to make a big push to the NC. They have a boatload of entries..

eta: that being said, I am completely speculating and don't really understand how the scoring works.. I have no idea who will win.

Thanks for the links BB.

Here is how the scoring works:

1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 5 points
5th - 4 points
6th - 3 points
7th - 2 points
8th - 1 point

There can be less points awarded if there are fewer than 8 contestants but I believe that is rare, but can happen in relay events.

10,000 meters — Habtom Samuel, New Mexico

Samuel survived a late fall and bounced back to win the 10,000 meter final Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, running an NCAA personal best 28:07.82 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. In doing so, the freshman from Keren, Eritrea added to an already glittering résumé with UNM’s first-ever title in the men’s 10K.

So the dude gets involved in a big collision and falls, then gets up to win the race. The dude almost cuts my 10K time in half......

Great to see Gator men win their 3rd NC in a row. Let's see what the ladies do now.

i’m pretty sure Arkansas just finished 1-4 in the women’s 400

Is that 29 points on 1 event?

indeed it is.. they just moved to #1 after 12 events

1. 44 Arkansas (+29)
2. 43 Florida
3. 27 Oregon

That one race would have them in 2nd.

and with the 4x400 upcoming..
that could be 39 points from 1 event..

Yeah I think that will make them hard to beat. UF only has Valby left to compete and Arkansas has several really great scoring chances.

was that expected? that seems like a huge advantage.. just good luck or they plan their whole team around that race?

eta: they were the highest seeds left.. so yeah, that was somewhat expected

It seems silly you could win almost entirely because of one event but i don't really know how to change it.

same.. I kept checking if this was a prelim or a recording.. 29 points is stupid, especially since they should easily win the 4x400 too

but I’m guessing others would do it if they could.. no one else was sub 50

I don’t care either way as I don’t really follow it.. but from the outside looking in, a cap of 20 points in 1 event seems reasonable to me.. or perhaps the Top 3 from one school..

Top 3 = 10 + 8 + 6 = 24 which is still ridiculous

It's certainly not just one event. BigDG has the link above. Arky nickles and dimes as well. But hell, if you have 4 queens who are the best on your squad in a one lap sprint, would you cry shenanigans? The team was NCAA runners up Indoor a few months ago so it can be done.

Yes it was definitely a possibility.

Although I was incorrect thinking it was over there are some field events still not scored. Apologies.

Arkansas is still in a great spot.

It's no slight on Arkansas or the girls, just seems like a faulty system

Just re-checked. HJ isn't finalized. Arkansas will get 10 or 8 there. Hurdles just got 6.

What the hell? Stanford had the 4 and 11 seed in the 800 finals.. and they went 1 2 and got 18 points..

That’s gonna push them closer in the DC.. I still think Texas wins, but it might be close now..

both with PB.. drug test on Aisle 6
