Darius Paige had the same thing happen a few years ago. Shame because he would have been a stud. Feel for the Russel kid.

So I did some googling and Dolly Parton has each of her breasts ensured for $300,000. The more you know.
Also this.

Actually it doesn't suck. How many college athletes or young people have congenital heart defects go undetected. Thank God Uf found this and alerted him. His parents will want him not a football player and no one gives a frick about football. Now he can be treated and live.

Players can take out draft insurance if they return for their senior year instead of entering the draft.
Fewer than 15 claims have ever paid out on this.

Well, it's a 1 year insurance plan, and how many potential 1st rounders actually stay for their senior year? It's not like the law of large numbers applies here.

Don't most (if not all) of them work some sort of internship in the AD?

There’s been a lot more than 15 policies taken out.

Didn't they have a 2017 kid that had a medical issue too? IIRC, he got busted for weed but then they found a medical condition.

Same thing basically happened to James Robinson from last year's recruiting class.
Sucks for these kids for their football dreams to end this way. Hopefully they take advantage of their opportunity to get a degree.
I should've read down a bit.
I do wonder if this isn't the result of all the supplements HS athletes use. We had a HS kid recently who nearly died from creatine misuse. His high school coach had administered it and the bitch of it all was he wasn't the only one hospitalized, just the only one who developed either organ failure from it (was either kidneys or liver) or some odd condition that royally fricked him over and nearly killed him (sorry but I can't remember). He'll live a normal life but he won't play sports again.
Adding to all that is the fact that stimulants are is sooooo many other supplements and we hand them out to kids like candy. It's not so bad in college since there's a NCAA list of substances and you have professionals doling supplements out and approving them.

James Robinson had a heart condition as well Prof. You are correct. I’ve always wondered if a kid could take his classes and be a GA of some sort if he is interested in coaching.
Any one know if this is possible?

I remember Mary Hart, Entertainment tonight, had her legs insured for a cool million back when. That was the rumor anyway.
