if we beat state tonight that's 4 top 10 wins within the week along with our record since the Arkansas series. i don't think we have to win the conference tournament but i believe we'll need to be at least in the championship game to get a top 8 seed.

I don't think this is necessarily true, wasnt LSU and UL-Lafayette both nation seeds in recent years? They are only an hour away.

Fair point, but the situation is different. OM and MSU are in the same conference, and that would mean that the record-setting 4th national seed would be an two hours away while a couple other teams have VERY similar resumes.
I just don't see it happening. I could be wrong though.

Toughest road series outside of conference was to LA where they went 1-1-1 I believe.
SEC trips I do not count because there is familiarity with the parks and crowds.
This is moot as MSU is a national seed, but my original point was I do not know how well MSU or aTm would travel to different parks based off their style of game, especially MSU because they do so many things to try and change pace of games.

I think there will be a lot of pressure for LSU to be the 4th national seed from the SEC. Lot of things going for us:
historically good program
historically good hosting site
Overall and conference record is within the accepted range
currently on a major hot streak, including taking 3 of 4 from Florida, something nobody thought was possible
even has a marketable gimmick going on, which would appeal to the casual fans.
We're close enough to qualify, and I can definitely see the powers-that-be wanting us in Omaha
