It probably is considered blocking the plate. But when you think of "blocking the plate" you think of the catcher dropping to a knee where his foot, ankle, shin and knee are all on the ground. I would like to ask an ump that just for clarification.

But if the ball reaches his glove before the runner gets to him then it is legal. You just cant have contact without the ball.

I have never seen a team that looks so pedestrian for seven innings than lsu and the 8th inning comes and bam, they start playing with a different confidence. It's that way every game.
Also, uf is the most overrated team in america. There are 3 acc teams I've seen play that are much better than florida. State and a&m would sweep them right now. I wouldn't be surprised if sorry area bama beats them tomorrow.
