Whitt's strategy of driving applications from out of state students has been brilliant

Somehow seems wrong for a public University in the state of Alabama to turn away local students, chasing the almighty $.

First off, it's Witt, no Whitt. Secondly, the high school graduate numbers in AL are flat, so in order to grow the University in the manner we have, we HAVE to look out of state, and it certainly doesn't hurt that those students are willing and able to pay 3x in-state tuition. Trust me, no one is turning their backs on AL students.

Exactly. Witt/Whit (whatever...) has not limited the number of opportunities for in-state students at all. He added 8K students. If some of those kids are from Plano, Texas paying full out of state tuition, you don't have the issue of in state funding constraints. There are as many in state kids as ever going to UA, he just added the Texas and North Carolina kids.

He is going after good students who are almost good enough to get into Texas or A&M, but don't want to settle for Texas Tech.

UF and UGA are clearly the 2 most difficult public SEC schools to get into.

Whoa now don't give UGA too much credence. The admission standards plummet if you go to a JUCO for one year and transfer in. If you don't want to do all of the application/essays, just wait a year and transfer.

They were placed on probation because of political reasons and not academic reasons. The whole point of the probations was to take power away from some trustees, that is why SACS was never going to take their accredition away.

Like the average citizen living in Germany in the 1930's, Auburn fans will will lock step and repeat the propanganda that suits them best.

It wasn't politics that caused a Sociology prof to question why CBS sports listed Mr. Williams as a Sociology major. It shouldn't be hard for you to research the situation yourself.

The only part politics played in the entire SACS accreditation scandal at Auburn was how the Federal Judge in Atlanta handled the issue. Politics played a role because the state of Alabama could not handle a multi-billion dollar business (thats all a university really is) being declared null and void because the Athletic Department was trying to cut corners and keep a money-maker (a football player) eligible for work.

Before you go off half-cocked understand - athletes are employees not just at Auburn but every school. Political correctness wants to sugarcoat it.

Auburn athletes discovered an easy way to get a passing grade - word spread - many took advantage. When it was made public SACS had no choice but to investigate. If there arent guidelines on academics then you will have situations like we had in the early 1900's - athletes playing for 6,7, 8 plus years and never advancing academically because they're being paid on the side.

Frankly, I don't understand fans that want to lock-step to the gospel of media propaganda. If this situation happened at Alabama I would be demanding the truth and not satisfied until the guilty parties were removed.

Your own schools website posted all the information about the steps they were taking and how serious the issue was. By your own admission above - you either (A)Never atteneded Auburn so you didn't care enough to research it or (B)read the SACS claim, the Auburn response and the court documents and chose to bury your head and deny it anyway.
You should actually be embarrassed and outraged instead of fabricating half truths and changing the topic to a d*** measuring contest. Go ahead and have the last word. As I stated earlier its sad when a decent topic is reduced to moronic banter or d*** measuring contest.

My god, you are one ignorant frickin' troll.

Auburn was placed on SACS probation in 2003 because many liberal faculty members were butthurt to the point of hemorrhoids over Bobby Lowder. The probation was for one year. Over "governance" issues, not academic issues. The probation was lifted in 2004.

The "sociology" non-scandal was discovered and reported on in 2006.

You are one brain-dead stupid son-of-a-gun.
