Ramp is right.
Alabama was on the biggest downer of all time. Expecting to play for the NC, and we're in the Sugar Bowl with fricking Utah (who nobody knew anything about).
It's totally understandable.
And btw... Utah fan... If you ever have to play 'Bama again, you team will get the shite stomped out of them by an angry elephant.
Pray to God your Utes don't have to play 'Bama in the next decade. You'll get slaughtered.... and every SEC fan on this board knows that.

quote:While I respect your opinion, and Utah whipped us last year, there is NO WAY, I repeat, NO WAY ANY of the teams you just mentioned could do better than 5-3 on a year in year out basis in the SEC. The programs you mentioned plus others like Boise, are able to get up and compete with the big boys for a big game b/c it's their biggest game of the year. Like it or not, Bama played at least 5 games bigger than the Utah game last year in Florida, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Clemson. No offense to your schools or your conferences, it's just not the same.
Why cant you people just understand that UTAH is a real program.....coaching is great.....players are great....what else do we have to prove? UTAH, BYU and TCU can play with anyone in this country..I just hope we get to prove it this year against the likes of Florida

I wouldn't be surprised of the 2008 Utah team beat the 2008 Florida team. Florida was better, imo, but it would have been closer than Fla-OU and Utah might have pulled if off.

gator man, what happened to Fla in o7?...

"Utah can play a month of football without facing a future NFL player. When Florida plays LSU there are like thirty on the field." The Herd, ESPN Radio.

LSU would have played Utah better than Bama did with the time off Bama had.

You won't "prove" anything by beating subpar competition all year then getting amped up for ONE GAME. Why don't Utah fans understand that 75% of our season in the SEC is as hard or harder than the ONE BOWL GAME you played against Alabama? How about Utah play Ole MIss, Georgia, Bama, and Florida in the regular season and then see how many BCS games you make it to. I can name probaby 5 SEC teams that would go undefeated every year if they had Utah's schedule.
p.s. You won't get to "prove" it against florida unless you go undefeated and everyone else has 3 losses. If you don't like it, join a REAL conference and play more than 2 ranked teams every year.

How many top10 defenses did Utah see that year?
Oh yeah...we are not supposed to talk about that.
Sorry.

Sooooo. If 2007 was such a down season, then that must mean that Bama really sucked somethin awful. But whatever, you would think with such an easy year Alabryant would have scooped dem selves up wanna dim crystal balls

I didn't read the whole thread...but as far as the 2007 LSU team, we beat 1/3 of the teams that ended up in the top 15 (yes...five top 15 teams). How many teams can say that any year?

This NOT understandable!
So you played in the SEC Championship game on Dec. 6...you lost...at this point there is no doubt, you are NOT going to the NC game...Saban has until Jan. 2 to get his team prepared to play in a GREAT BCS game (almost a full month)...now I will admit it is not the NC game, but it is still a huge game for Bama considering they haven't played in a BCS since what, 99? And you blame this on a downer? Just admit it, Saban failed his team in not getting them ready and hyped...plain and simple! Auburn was disappointed in 04 too, but guess what...we took the hand that was dealt and we played and we won...it wasn't the fans fault...it was Saban all the way!

I agree 100% with this statement. There was no excuse for this happening by a coach that is making what? 3.5 mill+ a year. I thought yall hired a coach that promised yall that Bama would be prepared for every game they play? Saban was at fault. For yall to be saying what yall are saying is that there was no way Bama could beat Utah no matter what yall did. This is what yall are buying into and that is why we hate Saban so bad and not jealous one bit, is because he puts forth the biggest lies and he gets away with it.
I guess that is why they call yall the Gumps!

i've never seen a coach get away with losses more than he does. everyone only remembers his wins and gives him a pass every loss. he even gets credit for LSU's wins and Shula/sanctions get credit for the losses. it's flabergasting.

I guess UTAH and the "Boises" of the football world will just have to keep on beating the so called "BIG BOYS" until the cows come home. We have nothing but wins in bowl games so I should not complain.
