Feast your eyes on the last time a Tennessee football team defeated Alabama. 5,000 days ago today. We came into this game as big underdogs and probably should have won the game as we outplayed them for much of it. Tennessee's superior depth overcame in the end. Final score: Tennessee - 16 Alabama - 13.

No that's why I said back when it was. Definitely some classic ones there beyond the notable ones.
Due to a combination of factors, divisonal realignment, Alabama and Tennessee going in opposite directions, Nick Saban. LSU really took that spot during that time as the next big Alabama game.
This is really a cool game to look back on. And man you're right. Amazing that 2006 Alabama team really should've won this game. Reminds me a lot of 1998 MSU Tennessee in that sense

When you go to a revolving door of coaches that Tennessee went through and Alabama hired the best coach since the Bear, the results speak for themselves.

2007 game was shocking. It seemed like Tennessee's talent level had really dropped off by then. But they also made mistake of not feeding Arian Foster. Some people say Fulmer was fired prematurely, but I'm not sure, I think they just had bad luck with hires

That game was indeed shocking. Tennessee had superior talent and the game should have been much closer than what it was. Alabama led 24-17 at the half but exploded in the third and fourth quarters for a 24-point victory. From 2007-2009, Alabama and Tennessee were very close together in talent. 2010-Present, however, has been very one-sided in terms of talent on the field and the scores have shown that.

2009 we were not that close in talent. We started two walkons on the Oline.

Was that the Terrence Cody block game?

DJ Hall made a couple of extraordinary catches in that game. That guy was a lot better than he gets credit for. Did it with some pretty average offensive talent around him as well. Chris Capps is still the worst SEC starter I’ve ever seen, and he started multiple years. Jake Holland at Auburn was pretty bad too. Auburn also had a tight end, Tommy Trott, that started all 4 years, he was bad as well.

LSU took Tennessee’s spot at the table

Yes, and the blocks happened because they had no business starting on the Oline for Tennessee. They just got dominated.

Yes, you were. Your defense was every bit as good as ours was that year and most of our starters were from the Shula era on both sides of the ball. It wasn't until 2010-11 that our roster really started to be star-studded.
