How is 2008 UGA vs Alabama not on here? A literal change of guard took place that night. UGA was a consistent top 10 team, 2 SEC titles, a couple Sugar Bowls, and pre season #1 under Mark Richt that year and Bama literally provided a changing of the guard that night in Athens. 31-0. At half. Bama didn’t win it all that year thanks to us but showed their blue print to Saban’s future domination in this conference that night.

Surprised there isn't something on that list from the 2004 season. Having 3 undefeated teams, #1 and #2 never changing throughout the season, resulted in them adding the Harris Poll to the BCS matrix and removing the AP.

Not quite. The AP poll was removed from the BCS after 2003 since they tried to get cute and go against the rules everyone had already agreed to. When they tried to declare their "own" champion the BCS was like "ok frick yall see ya".

But further...the controversy around 2004 didn't get "solved" until 10 years later so it's hard to really say that it influenced much, I don't think.

If that's the route you wanna take the 08 bama/clemson game was already listed

UGA was a consistent top 10 team

and finioshed in the top 10 that season too As well as multiple more times in Richt's tenure

Not really, consiering we hadn't won a natty in decades and sucked bad just 2 years prior to the game. You know what was an ACTUAL changing of the guard? Bama beating Florida in 2009...

2001 SEC Championship Game Tennessee vs LSU - The beginning of the end of Tennessee as a powerhouse, and the rise of Nick Saban as a guru. The groundwork for LSU's 2003 championship was built in that game.

Not quite. The Harris Poll appeared in place of the AP in 2005. This was to address (unsuccessfully) the fact that preseason rankings gave teams like USC/OU an unfair advantage over a team like Auburn who started out the season #17 while USC/OU started out #1/#2. The first Harris poll wasn't released until after week 4, so they thought (ignorantly) that a poll released later would address preseason biases.

What they did after the 2003 season was, in equal parts, average the rankings in the ESPN/Coaches Poll, the AP Poll, and the total computer poll average from 6 selectors. So the ESPN/COaches was 1/3, the AP 1/3, and the computer 1/3. Prior to that, you had a Human Poll average, a Computer Poll average, and then a "strength of schedule score" that added points to your score based on your SOS. So it was more like the Human Polls were 1/2, the computer 1/2, and the SOS was a bonus added to your score. USC had complained they got screwed because the computer polls were given too much weight. So the change after that season gave human polls 2/3 of the BCS ranking and computers 1/3, while removing the SOS "bonus" entirely.

That game also caused a shitstorm with who would play Miami in the BCS title game. It ended up being a Nebraska team who didn't even win their division. It's funny how much people forget that season yet everyone remembers what happened in 2011 and 2017, when Alabama won a national title both years without winning their division. The problem was, while it should have, it didn't change anything in college football.

Big SEC games in any given year that just determined who won the league are a dime a dozen.

The 2009 SECC should still be included. Alabama replaced Florida as the SEC's preeminent team, then proceeded to win 6 NCs (jmho).

But it wasn't from that OSu game. As the writeup says, it started long before after losses to malzahn, ATM, anbd seeing freeze have success. And they'd already hired kiffin which was the big turning point.

The most amazing thing about that 2014 team was that Blake Sims was the QB, a converted running back who had been sitting on the bench for 3 years. We started going no huddle and getting calls from the sidelines because Sims could not call the plays properly in the huddle. Plus he threw the ball like a shortstop. I love the guy to death but that's when I decided Lane Kiffin was some kind of offensive genius. Blake Sims, I still can't believe it.

Tell me you’re insecure without telling me you’re insecure. Even having a great program now can’t stop this UGA Pussy from trying to talk unwarranted shite lol.

I’d probably agree. I’m not an insecure little pussy like you and can objectively admit things. Just like I’d reason that 3 national titles in a span of 12 years is better than 1 national title in 40 years. Hopefully you’ll catch up one day lol

The OU fiasco in 03 too. That's why it was funny as shite when another B12 team got left out in 2011.
