Kind of weird that it uses medical schools as part of the consideration. You end up with some real anomalies. But I understand the reasoning behind it. I'd just put law and med school in a completely separate bracket

Just noticed that Mizzou and Georgia are right next to each other in these rankings...which is about where I'd put them...about neck and neck.

Mizzou isn't even the same stratosphere

Yeah, it is a bit weird considering some of the Universities have Medical Centers as separate entities...but as I said, it isn't perfect. Medical schools in general though (in most respected circles) are almost always involved in some way. It was the reason Nebraska got kicked out of the AAU.

As I said before, not perfect, but loads better than some of the crappy formulas used by Forbes and US News

Using what context? US News rankings? Research dollars? As shown in CWUR's rankings, Georgia handily beats Missouri in the quality of education category...but Missouri does better in other categories like Quality of Faculty and Alumni Employment.

They leave off the only top 20 research institution between the east coast and the west coast. Great list!

Are you referring to A&M? Because they are at #102 world ranking on the list.

ETA: Vandy is too low on the list IMO (#69 in world)

But I'd love to hear who it is? Because I'm not seeing any missing.

I can see why those auburn kids are so upset when rejected by UGA.

I am talking about Texas A&m being the only top 20 institution in research expenditures, between the east coast and west coast.

DGAF what some journalism major sitting at her desk in NY thinks.

Every school in the SEC is getting better nationally in these rankings. And they will all continue to get better. In the grand scheme of things an individual's desire to work hard and succeed makes more of an impact as opposed to the name on their undergrad degree.

Well the "media" pretty much sucks arse, so how do you pick who to give this award to? It's like an award for the best bum.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the CWUR rankings....I agree with your dissatisfaction with the forbes ranking.

Don't lump Texas in with your garbage school. A&M's admittance rate is just short of "walk-and-chew-gum."

Seriously though, it's 70%.

You're correct, TAMU's is 69.5%. I don't think acceptance rates are a good judge to go off of though. Here's an example:

UF 46.5%
UCF 48.9%
FSU 56.8%

FSU is a better school than UCF.

USMA isn't a public school. It's a fully government-subsidized tool factory.

The very fact that none of the academies offer masters or doctorate programs should disqualify them from this list, like it does with USWNR not classifying them as "major colleges and universities" but "liberal arts colleges" instead.

DAMN. How many fricking people apply to UCF? It seems they already accept everyone. Are people just not bothering to apply to UF or FSU anymore?
