That's like taking credit for Texans before they were Texans. The exact same concept. Congratulations some of your best and brightest decided to leave?

So it WAS Mexico before that?

So are you saying those folks left to become Mexicans? (Not that there's anything WRONG with that)

I'm so confused.

Actually, you can argue that they weren't exactly the best and brightest.

This just shows that we are all Americans.....willing to fight and die for our neighbors and each other....regardless of where you are from, all fighting for the same cause and freedom.

Also, when the famed Texas Brigade did all of its best work in the WBTS, it had Georgia and South Carolina regiments attached to it.

Not to take anything away from the Texas regiments - they were bad arse too.

Travis was actually raised and lived his adult life as a lawyer in Alabama.

Oh, yeah, it was Travis' adult problems in Alabama that led him to Texas. A rank amateur as a soldier, his real calling was as an agitator and propagandist for the Texas revolution.

I always viewed Travis and Bonham as rebels without a cause. The newspapers started writing about the trouble brewing in Texas, people were probably talking about it in the taverns all across the SEC footprint.

The next thing you know, these fellas are saddling up their horse to get to Texas to get in on the ground floor of the founding of a breakaway republic. They made the Texas cause their own cause.

8 Alamo defenders came from SC.

8 South Carolina natives that would rather die for Texas freedom than live another minute in South Carolina.

My Mom .... Texan born, Sandlapper by the grace of God.

I'm proud of both my Texan half and my SC half but, naturally, moreso my SC half.

In this state we don't have a shitstain of a communist-socialist city like Austin thankfully.
