that would have been quite the video review in today's game

Man, I hope Bo goes the right way in this one.
But for reals, that was a fantastic era of classic Iron Bowls.

worth it just to hear Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles.

Well, you're correct in "Bo over the top." However,a close review of Jeremiah Castille's interference/interception would be interesting. I don't think that's reviewable even today, but in 1982 that was a ticky tacky penalty.

I'm not sure how anyone could say it wasn't close. You can't tell he scored from this angle.

Watch how animated the referee is in that game. Very formal in all of his signals.

If that were true, Jackson would have had to actually lose yardage.

Agreed fully. They were outstanding. I remember the tornado game. The announcer stated there was a tornado in the area…. The entire stadium (both side) cheered!

Not the best of the Bo Jackson series. That would be 1985, "The Kick." Drama galore with Bobby Humphrey, Gene Jelks, and Mike Shula going back and forth with Pat Dye's team for 4 quarters.
Factoid: Bo only went 2 and 2 against a BAMA team coached by Ray Perkins. And almost didn't do that. That was Pat Dye, Mr. Conservative. Made Kirby Smart look like the original rebel without a cause.

Factoid… Coach Dye blamed himself for the call. Also had a light week of practice before the game and did not have the team ready. The play call was made at the line of scrimmage in the Bama student end zone. Bo didn’t hear it. Just another chapter in this great rivalry.

Dye ran the wishbone. What's not to know? The rest of the team went one way and Bo took off in the opposite direction. Hardly a Dye problem. But he loved Bo till the day he died.

He scored twice , his initial dive and when he flipped around. The side judge was right there.

the tornado game
quote:
When Auburn kicker Al Del Greco approached the kickoff to Alabama, the wind picked up and blew the ball off the tee.
At the NWS, forecasters were concerned. A line of severe thunderstorms was approaching western Jefferson County and a tornado warning was issued. The radar at Centreville showed a well defined hook echo heading directly toward the stadium.
Legion Field Public Address announcer Simpson Pepper read the warning over the loudspeakers but the game was not stopped. By ten minutes to go in the game, the rain was coming down in torrents as Auburn tried to control the ball and win the game in the horrible conditions as they clung to a 23-20 lead. The rain began to fall so heavily that you could barely see the field on the cameras.
Fortunately, the storm did not produce a tornado in western Birmingham, or the results would have been catastrophic. Later, the same storm dropped an F3 tornado that heavily damaged the Winn Dixie store at Oxford. A total of seven tornadoes touched down across the state that afternoon and evening.
Ain’t no way that game would’ve continued today.

People forget AU got the ball back and missed a game winning FG in 84. The 83 and 85 games were classics.

Um, no. This is embarrassingly bad.
Jackson was 1-2 vs Perkins coached Alabama teams. His first game was against a Bama team coached by some dude named Bryant.
