The 2010 Citi BCS National Championship Game featured the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (led by Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram II) and the #2 Texas Longhorns (led by Heisman Trophy finalist Colt McCoy). On the fifth play from scrimmage after a botched fake punt, McCoy was knocked out of the game by Alabama DT Marcell Dareus. True freshman Garrett Gilbert was thrown into the fire and led the Longhorns to a 6-0 lead before Alabama went on a 24-0 run to end the half, en route to a 37-21 victory over Texas.

Alabama RB Mark Ingram II and Alabama DT Marcell Dareus were named the game's most valuable players. This was the first of Saban's six national championships with the Crimson Tide.

Speaking of that, pray for Jordan Shipley. Dude sustained serious burns on his ranch in Burnet yesterday and had to be life flighted. Critical, but stable condition.

ETA: Sorry, missed the other thread already posted on tKiffRant.

Not too long from now. It's the 15th anniversary of 4/27 this year.

Hell yeah. The past = reality.

LSU fans constantly living for next year = fantasy and delusion.

I am confused. I need an Alabama fan to clarify for me...

Do injuries matter....or not?
Or, maybe they only matter when they happen to Alabama players?

Metchie and Williams at least had legitimate injuries and didn't make a "business decision" like Colt did.

Longhorn fans to this day swear they were only a play or two away from dominating Alabama

It's been explained to you many times.

On the scoreboard and final results, it doesn't matter.

If you want to talk about the actual Texas team strength for that year, then you would obviously take it into account.

And the real reason Texas lost was at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, which is why Colt got hurt to start with and why Alabama had over 200 rush yards.

It's not complicated, but the average fan can't seem to tell the difference between season rankings and power rankings, so I'm not holding out hope for most of you.

What people fail to remember is Greg Mc Elroy was playing hurt and could hardly throw, basically turning Julio Jones into a OT.

McElroy started the game with cracked ribs.

Only threw 12 passes.

I'll never forget Colt's grim-faced father as he walked with him to the tunnel. If an Alabama fan had got in his way at that moment he would have taken their head off.

Ok. I was just wondering because we still have Tide fans bringing injuries up as the reason we beat Alabama in 2021 title game.

Probably is.

Doesn't seem to matter on the scoreboard. Take your win and be happy.

Oh, I'm happy. It's Alabama fans that don't seem to be happy.

So, it seems you are saying that the Alabama injuries cost Alabama a championship, but the Texas injuries did not coat Texas a championship. I guess that is what confuses me.
