The 2021-22 season marks the 30th anniversary of Arkansas
joining the SEC
In Arkansas' first year in the
SEC, the Razorbacks...
• were the overall, SEC regular-season champions, posting a 13-3 league record.
• finished with an overall record of 26-8, tying for the
4th-most wins in a season at the time.
• advanced to the NCAA 2nd Rd.
• ranked #8 in the final UPI/Coaches poll, #9 in the AP poll and #10 in the USA Today poll.
• had All-Americans and consensus first team All-SEC picks
Todd Day and Lee Mayberry as well as third team All-SEC selection Oliver Miller.
• led the NCAA with 674 assists.

- After an Elite 8 finish last season, the Arkansas Razorbacks, under third-year head coach Eric Musselman, were picked 15th in the 2021-22 coaches preseason top 25 poll and 16th by AP.

• This is the first time Arkansas has appeared in the AP preseason poll since 2007-08, coming in at #19 that season. The last time Arkansas was ranked as high as 16th was in 2000-01 when the Hogs were ranked 15th.

• Overall, this marks the 17th time Arkansas has been in the AP preseason poll.

• Other teams of note in the preseason AP poll are SEC foes Kentucky (#10), Alabama (#14), Tennessee (#18) and Auburn (#22).
Mississippi State were among those getting votes. Also in the poll is potential Hall of Fame Classic opponent Illinois (#11)

- The Arkansas men’s basketball team was picked to finish third and sophomore guard Davonte Davis was selected second team All-SEC by a select panel of both SEC and national media members.

• The #3 SEC preseason rank is the highest for the Razorbacks since being picked third for the 2014-15 season, a year the Razorbacks finished second. Last season Arkansas was picked sixth in the preseason and finished regular-season runner-up.

• Kentucky was picked to win the SEC with Alabama picked second ahead of the Razorbacks. Vanderbilt’s Scotty Pippen Jr., was selected as the SEC Preseason Player of the Year.

• Davonte Davis was voted preseason second team All-SEC by both the league's media and coaches while JD Notae was picked preseason first team All-SEC by the coaches. While Notae did make the media's preseason team, he did receive voted for preseason SEC Player of the Year.

• Notae, last year’s SEC Sixth Man of the Year as well as Bleacher Report’s National Sixth Man of the Year, is the Razorbacks’ top returning scorer (12.8). Overall, Notae was third on the team in scoring behind Moses Moody and Justin Smith, but he led the team in scoring 22.2 points per 40 minutes. He additionally led the team in steals (46) and ranked seventh in the SEC in free throws made (92).

• Davis played a key role in Arkansas late-season success and run to the NCAA Elite 8. He played in 30 games with 17 starts, including each of the last 14. In the postseason (SEC/NCAA), Davis averaged 12.3 points and was second on the team in both rebound average (6.7) and assists (17). He was second on the team in deflections and, on a per 40 minute basis, averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds. Davis is just one of two Razorback freshmen to ever have at least 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a game and is the only Razorback rookie to do it twice in a season.

• Head coach Eric Musselman added two assistant coaches for the 2021-22 season. However, the two are not new to working with Coach Muss.

• Gus Argenal worked under Musselman for two seasons at Nevada.
^ 2017-18 season as an assistant coach
^ 2018-19 season as the associate head coach
^ The Wolf Pack went to the NCAA Tournament both years, including the Sweet 16 in his first season, and won the Mountain West Championship both years as well.

• Keith Smart has a long history with Musselman both as a player with the Rapid City Thrillers and Florida Beachdogs and as an assistant coach on Musselman’s staff with the Golden State Warriors.
^ Served as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
^ Overall, Smart spent nine years playing professional basketball and 22 years coaching in professional basketball, including assistant positions with the New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Kings, Warriors and Cavaliers. He got his start in
the coaching business as head coach of the Fort Wayne Fury of the CBA in 1997.

• Arkansas led the NCAA in men’s basketball attendance in 2020-21.
^ Averaged an NCAA-best 4,284
- Tenn., 2nd at 4,191 / TX Tech 2rd at 3,916
^ Had an NCAA-best 72,822 cumulative
- Tenn. 2nd at 67,056 / TX Tech 3rd at 58,734

• After last season's success, Arkansas officially sold put Bud Walton Arena for the 2021-22 season on Oct. 18
