The 1980s and 1990s were rough for Alabama. But even so Alabama had 8 ten win seasons between the Bryant and Saban years. If you toss out the Bryant and Saban years, a total of 42 seasons, Alabama still has as many 10 win seasons as LSU and more than Auburn.

By comparison, if you exclude the Saban and Miles years at LSU, 17 years, they only have 9. Before Saban arrived, LSU had 5 in 107 seasons.

If you exclude the Pat Dye and Turberville years at Auburn, 22 years, Auburn only has 8.

Woof.

Prime Nick Saban will never be matched.

10 win seasons by coach.

Nick Saban: 16
Bear Bryant: 13
Gene Stallings: 4
Frank Thomas: 2
Wallace Wade: 2
Kalen Deboer: 1
Xen Scott: 1
Harold Drew: 1
Ray Perkins: 1
Bill Curry: 1
Mike Dubose: 1
Dennis Francione: 1
Mike Shula: 1

Alabama has 13 coaches with at least one 10 win season. That may be more impressive than the total number.

We know one thing. Al Golesh will certainly never match Saban. It is likely Golesh won’t even get Auburn another 10 win season.
