10 greatest college football dynasties of all time

Surprised the 1970s Alabama didn’t make the list

quote:

The greatest run in college football history could be coming to an end with Saban officially announcing his retirement. If so, what a run it's been. Saban led Alabama to a 199-23 (.899) record from 2008-23, which included 16 straight 10-win seasons, nine SEC championships, nine national championship game appearances and six national championship game victories. Saban also coached Heisman winners (Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young) and dozens of NFL draft picks.

Bama fans are already reverting back to their living in the past ways.

I know one that will not make the list, and that is 2024-onward Alabama!

I am also surprised 1970s Oklahoma didn’t make the list. Both the Tide and Sooners had nearly identical records for the decade. They were before my time but definitely have heard many stories on each. It was a damn fine decade of national championship staple programs. Pittsburgh in 1976 snuck in there.

The Alabama teams of the 70's won the most games in a decade ever at the time, 8 SEC Championships and 3 NC's.. To not include them proves the writer is a clown

As much as I despise them, there is no way the current bama run is better than oU under BW.

OU did win the NC in 50 and 55-56. They did have a run of 47 victories. However the average record of their 1956 opponents was 3-6-1. They also did not play in a bowl game for one of their titles.

Alabama had to play SEC teams that if they won that team would be the NC. Alabama also had to play top teams to win the NC in the bowls.

and Alabama usually played for the title under Coach Saban

Did they play in a conference that had 4 other teams that also won National Titles, some of them multiple times?
