Going into the final weekend the panel said it was basically tied between Baylor, TCU, and Ohio State. And, in fact, if they had to pick, Ohio State was 3rd among them. It wasn't until after OU shite the bed against OK State that Ohio State jumped Baylor and TCU.

OU losing erased the only quality win on Baylor and TCU's schedule (besides each other).

lol.....complete horsesh*t.

you're kidding yourself if you think this mattered. given the results of the games of the 3 teams they had to pick one out of 3 of these three schools:

A. Tiny private religious school with no national fanbase and no significant history in football.
B. Tiny private religious school with no national fanbase and the barest inkling of football history
C. Huge State school with enormous national following and top5 storied football program.

tough stuff.

Baylor got blown out mid-season by an unranked WVU.

The game was tied going into the 4th quarter and WVU scored two unanswered TDs. that isn't a 'blowout'

You can't argue against the fact that OU was the best conference win on Baylor and TCU's resumes besides each other. Was it the only factor? No. But it was a factor that hurt both teams that final weekend.

Ohio State got in because they beat the #11 team 59-0 in a conference championship game. It's really that simple.

In my younger days I was an LSU fan first and an SEC fan 2nd. I pulled for every SEC team in OOC and bowl games.

This is the two edged sword as I've recognized in the last 10 years. Now I'm more selective in which SEC teams I pull for in these instances. Yes the SEC needs to look strong as a conference for the overall perception of conference strength which helps all SEC teams. However, you also have to factor in your recruiting rivals which typically is a few SEC schools.

At this point I don't want any SEC teams losing to anybody that is not in a Major Conference. I do still pull for most SEC teams to win the OOC games and bowls, but not certain ones that I see as a threat to LSU in recruiting. Reasoning is because lately SEC credibility is still strong despite a small drop off in perception. Look at the AP poll today, 10 teams in the top 27.

The outcome of a game between two teams both TCU and Baylor had already beaten didn't hurt their chances for the playoff, numbnuts. The fact that there wasn't a true, outright conference champion, or a CCG, is what killed their chances. Don't be dumb.

Bingo! And they were BIG 10 conference champions. Not co-champions like TCU and Baylor.......Champions.

Not me. I want them sky high coming into the Swamp. I think they may be more dangerous with a loss. Well maybe not if it is a beat down. OK, I'm on board with that.

lol.....pretty bad indictment on how badly the media dipsh*ts, ESPN, and coaches who don't watch the games, fell for the SEC West hype machine last year (as well as this year).
They all had Ole Miss at #1 in the nation at one point. Ole Miss! And then....Ole Miss turns out to be Ole Miss, goes to a bowl game, and gets their sh*t pushed in on national television by a charmin powder puff team.

Oh....and the BIG XII has had 7 teams ranked before.

but IDGAF about the conference;

The quandary you find yourself in is that if the rest of the conference ED's then so does your team especially if you are not on top... In the DE'ng game it is best to be on top!

To be a bit anal...the record is the record. It only needs to be "set straight" if there is an error in the record keeping.

It is the perception that needs to be set straight, not the record.
