Are you from Northeast Alabama? By chance, and worked as a ski instructor for a bit?

Although I love skiing I am not an instructor or ever did do that. I grew up in California and Florida

So is anyone seeing any news whatsoever on the search since Marshall said no? I have not heard or read a peep out of anyone. Not even rumors.

You're down to women's options now. Would you consider it?

Thad matta has the best coaching tree in The game.

The modwest produces great coaches.

Avery Johnson

He has never coached college before. I wonder how that would work out.

on Mike and Mike this morning they interviewed Marshall. He was asked about the Alabama thing and sort of side-stepped it and made points about WSU (as expected). Then later talking to Danny Manning mentioned that Danny knows what he's talking about in regards to a move - it takes about a year to get settled in school, find a doctor, adjust. It's harder with kids. "we've got two. we lose Kellen to college this year, but Maggie's in 9th grade and didn't want to go. because of that my wife kinda dug her heels in".

Made it sound like he was ready to take job, family wasn't. It happens. On to the next one.

Dude has never recruited a player in his life.

What high school recruit wouldn't want to play for a future Hall of Famer who's had his jersey retired and coached in the NBA Finals? Have you seen any of his press conferences? Pretty awesome dude.

"Hey, I'm Bruce Pearl. I coached in a couple of sweet 16 games one time."

"Hey, I'm Avery Johnson. I coached in the NBA Finals and had my jersey retired by the San Antonio Spurs."

I do think this was the situation. However, Battle should have investigated how sincere the interest was from the whole family before getting on a plane and turning the search into a "Marshall or bust" endeavor. A lot more of this could have been done over the phone and through agents without having to get our hands so muddy. You give him time to convince his wife, and then when everyone is on board with potentially leaving, that's when you start sending planes to seal the deal. I doubt Marshall's wife was ever on board, and Battle let Marshall's agent use us. I have no problem moving on from Marshall, but the public spectacle hurts our ability to land any other high profile guy.

This idea was floated by the alabama intel site. Read elsewhere that Mike Davis is really pushing hard to get back to UA and is promising killer recruiting classes. The talent in the state is going into an uptick period over the next few years. One thing about Davis, he can recruit. He had D. Cousins locked in at UAB and admin there messed it up..for example.
This idea is to pay Prohm, obviously, less money to be Head Coach, but pay Mike Davis a huge (by asst coach standards) salary to have the title of associate head coach. 2 for 1....the carrot for Davis would be if it works he could launch himself to another better job again I guess....and he only makes 200k a year at Texas Southern...they could triple that and he be back home in Bama.
At first I thought this was crazy, but then I thought.....the knock on Mike Davis is his teams are hard to watch on offense.......but Prohm's teams average almost 80 points a game...1st in their conference.

The knock on Prohm is whether he can recruit against Pearl, Howland, Barnes...maybe fight Calipari for a player like......Demarcus Cousins. Well, that is Mike Davis' huge talent.
I hate to say it, and I hate myself for thinking it....but that might just be crazy enough to be interesting if Archie Miller and a couple of others say no. I'd give it a whirl before Richard Pitino or an asst. coach somewhere....but I'd obvious try to get some others before doing it.
