Another “game control” type of stat… Average lead during SEC play which comes from Torvik.
Average lead during SEC games so far:
+4.91 Texas A&M
+4.46 Florida
+3.64 Auburn
+3.47 Vanderbilt
+1.27 Arkansas
+0.81 Georgia
+0.70 Tennessee
+0.65 Alabama
-0.69 Missouri
-1.24 Texas
-2.74 Kentucky
-3.26 LSU
For Kentucky to average being down by nearly 3 points yet be 5-2 is insane.

quote:This right here. A&M is playing much better each week but the true test is coming up. It is weird having so many shooters at A&M.
aTm has @ Georgia, @ Bama, Florida, Missouri, @ Vandy, @ Arkansas, and Kentucky remaining on the last half of schedule. I think during that stretch, we see how good aTm really is.

As much as Auburn fans hate Alabama football, I think they hate Bama basketball even more. In their heart of hearts they know that Bama will always dominate them on the football field, but the fact that Bama also eclipsed them on the basketball court during their greatest run ever eats at them something fierce. I, for one, love to see it.

In what world has “bama eclipsed Auburn during our “greatest run”??
Auburn was the first program of the two to make an Elite 8… it took Bama 16 years to finally get their program to that point.
Auburn was the first program of the two to make a Final Four… it took Bama 5 years later to finally get one.
Auburn was the first program of the two to be a 1-seed in the Tournament… it took Bama 22 years to finally match that feat.
Auburn has won either an SEC Regular Season or Tournament title in 5 of the past 8 seasons…. 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024, and 2025.
Alabama has produced just two seasons during that same span of time that produced an SEC Title (2021 and 2023).
Auburn has the same number of seasons that has produced an SEC Title in the past 8 seasons as Bama had had in the past 35.
The fact of the matter is, aside from a few good seasons in the late 1950s and early 1960s… the mid 1980s… and the 1998-2000 time frame, Auburn has sucked as basketball. In the early 2010s Auburn decided to change that, and we spent hundreds of millions of dollars to build a first class arena and we went and hired the absolute best coach at rebuilding programs in SEC history. Bama was fine being mediocre and nationally irrelevant until Auburn decided to get serious. Y’all never would have fired Avery Johnson when you did had Auburn not made a Final Four. Y’all had an “Oh shite” moment at that point and decided it was time to play catch up, so you went out and hired Nate Oats. Y’all should be thanking Auburn for making you care, because had Auburn not decided to take basketball serious, y'all wouldn’t have either. Even still, Auburn is now coming off its 2nd Final Four of the Pearl era and yall have reduced yourself to blatant cheating in order to try to keep pace… which you are failing at.
