Couple things here...

PM's reports sound like he's trying to be the first to say something. Does he really have that good of a track record in being right?

Recruitingjunkie is big time awful. That dude's comments on the selection committee thread he started about Condoleezza Rice being on there, and really that whole thread in general made me terrified to know that there are people with his general viewpoint walking the street, no less coaching and leading children.

At least in the short term (and I do also think its absurd) but I think Muschamp is worth every penny of 2M from a recruiting standpoint alone. Who else is going to generate this much excitement among recruits? If he can't make at least a little headway against Saban and defensive recruits, I'm not sure it can be done and we can just go back to shooting for a serviceable defense rather than a great one.

I generally feel the same way about WM but I do think that 2 mil a year is about where I'd draw the line. The impact on recruiting would be huge and, even though I've said this about other DCs we've hired, I feel like we would finally be in the right track defensively. Anything close to or over 2 mil is a little silly for a coach that we all agree is leaving in a few years, and the better our defense is, the quicker he is gone IMO. We could get someone like Clark as a number two guy and it would be a little meh but I think we have to draw a financial line in the sand with WM. shite, especially because Florida is going to be paying him a lot not to coach (I don't know how much though)

So IF WM comes to Auburn, is the stuff about T-Rob coming and getting Rocker back on staff actually have legs or is it more wishful thinking by the fan base?

T-Rob is a definite possibility. I'm a little skeptical on Rocker though.

Where did that number come from? You're right. Even if SCar was extremely desperate they wouldn't pay anything close to that.

The HCIW tag isn't that valuable when it is for South Carolina. While there is quite a bit of potential with Virginia, NC and SC recruiting grounds, I wouldn't handcuff myself to that job.

I work with someone whose parents are tight with SC's AD. This is what he told me:

It's my understanding that some very good discussions took place over the past couple days. And that lawyers from USC and Muschamp are talking today. But those won't be full on "negotiations".

Also, it sounds like Auburn might be out because Malzhan is so young and Muschamp is looking at either a program he can take over or the NFL. It appears the discussions with USC today will be focused on contractual triggers if Muschamp isn't the head coach in X number of years and he hits certain performance metrics with the defense.

I still don't understand the HCIW tag. Why as either a school OR a coach would you want to handcuff yourself like that? Basically, SC is saying we think a coach with a 28-21 (17-15 SEC) record is the best we can do after Spurrier retires. If Spurrier has a really good or another medicore season he's probably gone after next year (will be his 10th at SC). What if WM is offered a better HC position? What if SC can get a better HC. I just don't get it.

I've got news guys. I was out in the laundry room and my cat walked in to use the litter box. While he was crouched over taking a shite I heard some weird noises. I looked over to see what the hell he was doing and out of nowhere a little gnome falls out of my cat's butt.

The gnome stood up and wiped himself off. He then looked over and with a voice that sounded like Morgan Freeman he told me that Will Muschamp was definitely going to be a head coach in the NBA.

So that's that. I'm already looking to the future.
