None of these seem like too much thought was put in.
If you switch out Arky for Aub. then it makes a little sense but that's about it.

Getting stuck with Longo sure doesn't help.
McGriff isn't doing much to help keep his gig. Hard to blame him entirely because the defense was just as bad last year.

I just don't understand our defense sometimes. I honestly think we could get in and stay in a base 4-3, gap control, all linemen and backers have a gap responsibility and then just play cover 3 or an occasional Cover 1 when blitzing a corner or safety and we'd be better off. Absolutely nothing fancy ever. But I know the game is way more complicated than that these days. Or at least it appears to be.

I think the jury is still out on McGriff. They are playing really hard and I’ll wait to pass judgement on him as a coordinator until we have some talent on defense.

He is going to audition for bigger jobs against UF in a few weeks. He doesn't have the shiny credentials of a few other coaches, but he would be a solid addition to almost any team... and he will do it for a bargain price.'

That guy isn't wrong. He's a miracle worker. If we don't get him I want him to stick around and be a thorn in Alabama's side for the next decade after what they did to the UAB program.
