I wanted Kirby Smart. When freeze was hired I didn't mind the hire, but I hated the idea of running a spread. I hate the spread.

I don't mind the spread. I don't like playing power football when we don't have the guys to play power football

I was very happy because I have followed his successes since he was on staff at Ole Miss. I knew that he was a big reason why coach O was able to bring in some top talent. I was one of the ones that was screaming for us to hire him. I just can't believe that we actually did.

I never understood this logic. My scrotum could coach defense under Nick Saban and the talent that he brings in. What qualified him as a head coach? I'm much more impressed with a guy that could go to Lambuth and win and Arkansas State and win. Those were TERRIBLE programs and Hugh could make those guys win. He also built Briarcrest into a very strong HS program. The guy is awesome.

I see what you are saying. I just wanted a big name coordinater. This is why I am not the AD.

Looking back the 2012 NSD threads turned out to be hilariously ironic.

Oh okay ... I just did that because I know Mike as well.

They sit right in front of me in the Rebel Club and his son went to Briarcrest with me as well.

Carry On.

I was excited. Having seen what he did at ASU, their immediate turn around and wide fan support, plus his previous stint at Ole Miss made me a believer in him from the start.

When others wanted a bigger name coach, I always thought he had the potential to be one of those guys, but just hadn't gotten the chance yet. And I'm not saying he is a big name coach yet, but God, I am so happy with the direction the team is headed.

The Mike Glenn/RG stuff was gold-I think diamondawg of all people drove him insane when you guys hired Freeze.

Honestly, I thought he sounded like a cheesy Baptist minister. I was shocked.
