It's the insane ramblings that can only come from a middle aged woman. Or someone that is very good at impersonating a middle aged woman.

Great, great guy but we do need someone charismatic. My buddy used to see Gordon Gee at the bars at Ohio State. Gee made an arse of himself in the media but he raised tons of money and did a pretty good job.

I just think this is bullshite. Yeah, Dan Jones is no Robert Khayat, but the mentality of "He's a guy I'd like to get a beer with" 9 times out of 10 doesn't make someone the most qualified, unless they're a salesman or a motivational speaker. Do you really want a part of our Chancellor's job description to get fricked up with alumni and make an idiot of himself? I don't see why that's an admirable characteristic for a man leading an academic institution to have. Do you think that's on the job description for Harvard's President?

I may not have agreed with everything Dan Jones did, particularly when it came to our athletic program's image, but really the problems I have with him are pretty damn minute. Who gives a shite about the bear, olemiss.edu, etc. Last I checked, we're the only school in the nation that went to Omaha, the NCAA tournament, and a BCS bowl game last year, so obviously our athletics have really only improved under him even if I disagree with the cartoon character we've chosen to represent ourselves to little kids.

But I don't think Ole Miss' image has gone down nationally at all during Jones' watch. Khayat got the ball rolling, and I really do think Jones has continued this trend. This on the other hand makes our university look like a bunch of rednecks. Newsflash, but we're probably not going to get another Robert Khayat anytime soon. Dan Jones tried to help out the academic institution and especially medical center (think it takes pretty big balls and stupidity to think you know better than he does when it comes to the later), and last I checked, I believe Ole Miss is an academic institution.

I will say this: Phil Bryant better not have any input with our new upcoming Chancellor. The guy isn't even an alumni and has no real ties to the university. Granted I know Jones wasn't an undergrad alumni, but he still got a doctorate from the university and ran the Medical Center for 15 years before becoming Chancellor. Phil Bryant can quite frankly go frick himself if he thinks he can have any leverage on who we choose as our Chancellor, and we all know this is largely our governor's doing.

Good to hear. Not a fan at all.

He laid the plan for the band to stop playing any forms of dixie within the next 3 years. Worst thing is he wanted the band director to come out and say it was his idea.

He wants to turn Oxford into Austin, Texas. No thanks!

Please name any issue that you have with Dan Jones that doesn't have to do with cartoon characters, music, or name changes? It's pretty fricking trivial and quite frankly redneck when you get into why people don't like Dan Jones.

He created problems that did not exist. He ignored many voices of folks who happen to love Ole Miss as much ( or more) as he says he does.
He, like a few before him, did not allow the decisions to be a choice by those who support the university....like a FAIR vote.
The neutering of the school that was once called Ole Miss will continue until the majority speaks and is heard. Trampling the traditions in the name of progress is baloney!

By all means insist that the changes make us a better people thus institution. That is also baloney. Only God can change the hearts of men and thus their actions. You cannot legislate morality.

Yeah, frick that James Meredith guy! Change is always bad!

Seriously, you could use this EXACT same post with what John Davis Williams did. Please read that post back and tell me it doesn't sound like it.

The university is not a democracy. I really hope for the value of my own degree that you didn't graduate from here.
