re: Ticket Sales

thanks in part to Ole Miss kids transferring

I can see why Ole Miss students are transferring to State. It actually isn't that bad here, and from what I can tell it seems like the mayor of Oxford is acting like a corona nazi while in Starkville things are more relaxed.

Plus the Cotton District is a nice gem that is great for students. I'm not talking about just the bars, but the affordable living area around all the bars and restaurants. It's like one big frat/sorority neighborhood.

As far as tickets, State still had some student tickets available as of today. They are only $20 per game.

you can say that shite again...

from every step of the way Oxford has been way more strict than the rest of the state.

another great example...

Reeves lightened the restriction to 10 people at a table in a restaurant

Oxford is still limiting to 6 people... for absolutely no reason. No science and logic whatsoever.

Edit: also the bars being open an extra hour ONLY on home football weekends... so the virus won't bother you for that extended hour of opening...

Strict just to be strict.

Im sick and tired of sacrificing. been doing it since April with the mask mandates.

this shite needs to end and its really shittey what they're doing to the students here

I get you, but if they are not selling because they are possibly way too high, then by virtue of the law of supply and demand the price should come down

Ya see, that’s where you’re wrong, Chief. Once the price goes up, it never goes back down . . .

Student tickets are $54 per game this year, which is 2.5 times more expensive per game than they normally are. Absolutely ridiculous

Good god this is trash. When I was a student season tickets were I think $110 for the season and that was among the highest in the league

COVID hasn’t hurt the enrollment of many schools around the country. There are quite iof few actually reporting increases. I’m being told by State people that their enrollment has increased 3% (thanks in part to Ole Miss kids transferring)

Do you have anything more than anecdotal evidence from your neighbor on this?

Ironically, the mayor of Oxford's oldest child is at State

There are schools for sure that have seen decline but several notable schools are seeing increases. OM is not going to be able to blame Covid if a huge drop happens.

Fall enrollments up at large state universities

Mine was $120.

Enrollment is down overall, but how much depends on the school. I'm certainly as busy as ever.

simple economics man. Supply is down, demand goes up. Demand goes up, price goes up. Come on meow.

Well Obviously the demand isn’t there if we have only sold 10K tickets ....

You posted a link to an article that did not mention either of the schools in question.

What were we really expecting here? You are being asked to pay absurd prices for a mediocre football team during an over-hyped global pandemic. In addition, there is no Grove, which dissuades a lot of people. I wouldn't read too much into this. It is going to be a really weird year.

For what it is worth, I live eight hours away and would be there this weekend if everything was normal.

re: Ticket Sales
I'm all for prorating the donations into face of each ticket, but charging the students is asinine. If anything they should be letting them come for free since their college experience is getting destroyed by Covid Nazis

You're wasting your time. He's all doom and gloom, his posts are exhausting.
