Tim Jumper passed
I was fortunate to grow up less than an hour away from Oxford, MS. I spent many Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons in the Tad Pad watching Rebel Basketball while enjoying a personal pan pizza from Papa John's. Ole Miss was never very good back then but I didn't care. Tim Jumper, Joe Harvell and Gerald Glass were the best scoring trio in the history of college basketball as far as I was concerned. It was either 1990 or 91 that we had all 3 and Shaq and Chris Jackson came into town. I think we ended up losing by 2 or 3 but I've never been that excited about a college basketball game ever since. Not even when I was at Ole Miss and we played Arizona in the Sweet 16. Thanks for the memories Tim. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

I was a Sr in high school. Jan or Feb of 1990. Unbelievable performance. I listened to that on the radio riding around drinking beer with my buddies. Glass and Jackson went shot for shot hitting 3s. I think they had 40 something points each or something crazy.
ETA: I was a Jr in High School. March of 1989. Here's the write up in the Clarion Ledger

100 YEARS FLASHBACK: Ole Miss - LSU 1989
1/16/2009 | Men's Basketball
As part of this season's celebration of the First 100 years of Ole Miss Basketball, OleMissSports.com will be featuring stories and insider content throughout the year that look back on some of the great moments, teams and players of the past.
The greatest one-on-one duel in SEC history was provided by Ole Miss' Gerald Glass and LSU's Chris Jackson in an overtime thriller in Oxford. The following is the Clarion-Ledger and Jackson Daily News account of March 4, 1989.
Rebels Win 113-112 Shootout

Clarion-Ledger/Jackson Daily News
OXFORDTwenty-three-year old Tad Smith Coliseum had never seen anything like it.
Forward Gerald Glass scored 53. Guard Chris Jackson scored 55. Ole Miss scored a 113-112 overtime win over LSU Saturday night.
And a sellout crowd of 8,580 screamed its collective lungs out. They were on their feet, madly waving pom-pons as the Rebels took a curtain call.
Glass equaled the fourth-highest point total in Ole Miss history. Jackson, of Gulfport, broke his own NCAA freshman scoring record.
But Glass hit the game-winning free throw with 9 seconds left, and Jackson missed 3-pointers at the end of regulation and overtime that would have won it for LSU.

Was there. Great game. Murphy was coach and his kid played on the team. Does anyone know where Gerald Glass is now?

He coached under AK for a year at Ole Miss and finished up his degree. Either that or he was getting his teacher’s cert.. Then he moved back to Greenwood to coach at his HS alma mater Amanda Elzy. He was still their coach 3 or 4 years ago but not sure now.
