My God we’ve had so much talent pissed away the last 22 years. But we finally got one

The 2005 and 2018 teams would have won it all if they got out to Omaha.

Stephan Head hit one that landed all the way in Abbeville back in the day.

I can’t remember if Pettway or Head hit the one I’m thinking of but I vividly remember one going over our heads in right field and on to the tennis courts

I do remember Head hitting one that landed in one of the furthest away courts.

It was Head that hit the ball. If was a midweek game and off the bat I thought it has to be foul with the way he spun on it. Landed in the back tennis court. He also hit one in Starkville on a Friday night game we won 7-1 that cleared their back fence in right. Then. He closed out a 4-2 win on Sunday to clinch the series. These Rebels have hurt me A LOT over the the last 22 years. Today makes it all worth it.

I lived and worked in Starkville during the 2006 Ole Miss/Miami Super Regional. You don’t know pain. It didn’t help matters that I was there in Hoover for the 2005 SEC Tourney Final we lost to MSU so I REALLY talked a bunch of shite when we went there and ran off 4 in a row to win the SEC Tourney in 2006. Hell after we won game 1 against Miami I went back to Starkville just to talk shite. I didn’t even go to games 2 and 3 of that Super. We took 2/3 from them to end the SEC season and keep them out of the SECt. On their Senior Day that weekend I yelled from the right field lounge ‘YOU frickING LOSERS !!! WE CANT EVEN HAVE SENIOR DAY !!! and it was true. A guy put me in a headlock but my MSU friends kept him from kicking my arse. Our whole team was Freshman , Sophs and Juniors. Like I said , you don’t know pain….

I’m going to take this time to retroactively claim 2020 as a national championship team as well

Still remember listening to Kellum in our driveway in the Seth smith/Pettway/Head years. Would just throw tennis balls up against a brick wall and try and act out the games while listening on the radio. I’m in shambles right now haha

Truly was. He deserves it as much as anyone. Guy has been the voice for so many heartbreaks. Fitting that he gets to call us winning a natty

It’s a shame those guys weren’t able to get one but they certainly helped and built the base of the pyramid that ultimately got us to the Natty this year
