We're not good. But apparently we're gritty. I don't hate it.
I expected to hate it.
I'm coming around.
Granted I've only listened to a few games over the radio and not watched them on TV at all.....but it really seems like we're just swinging for the fences instead of manufacturing base hits. It happens to be working but that is far from sustainable.
There were a ton of pop-ups yesterday in the later innings.

No. I can't say that I agree with that summation. We are still implementing the Bianco bunt game. Occasionally, they will swing for the fences but they aren't trying to do a homer or bust offense like Tennessee. The part where we suffer the most is our pitching, especially the bullpen, and some goofy ill-timed fielding errors.

D1 has us at 6… I just feel like we should be sweeping more to get that accolade. Losing 1 to UF and UK wasn’t ideal. No real complaints for where we are in the season from me though. Hope we keep it going

Picked to finish 15th in the conference. If we can somehow luck into hosting, that would be an incredible outcome. And might bring in some NIL transfers and get the mojo going in the right direction.
Seeing State struggle helps us in recruiting as well. We are gonna need to take that series in Starkville if we expect to host.
ETA: My 2025 baseball predictions and how they have turned out:
1) Elliott would be the strength of the team, with Nichols a close second. We would stay competitive in some games just based on our starting pitching:
Verdict: They've both been below average
2) Middle relief would be deep and would carry us
Verdict: Middle relief is dog shite and very thin except for Mason Morris
3) No closer
Verdict: Great closer in Spencer
4) Paino would be the young player to give us hope
Verdict: Paino will transfer to NWCC and wait tables at Windy City Grill by next summer
5) Our bats would be worst in the conference
Verdict: We are about 6th or 7th in the conference in offense, surprising to the upside
6) We would suck at fielding and be bottom quarter in the league
Verdict: We suck at fielding and we are botton quarter in the league

He single-handedly cost us the Arkansas series... That was a painful game 3 to attend

Good lord at the inflated mess of that ranking. We are nowhere near 6th best. That’s what an easy schedule can do you for you though

You may be right. You are probably right. But we are one boneheaded play away from having the series win over Arkansas and another boneheaded play away from having the sweep over Kentucky. I really don't know how good we are but it's good to get the respect of the high ranking.
I just want to beat Tennessee. I hate those frickers more than any other program in the SEC.

No shortage of storylines for the weekend
Vols just got a series loss from the reeling Aggies so they’ll be good and pissed off and wanna knock us off our momentary top 10 high horse
Doyle coming back wanting to cram it up our cramhole
Vitello will always be a douchebag wanting to instigate shite
The weekend has potential with great weather too.
This is the weekend I’ve been waiting for to really see who we are and if we are a top 10 team or a pretender boosted by a very weak schedule

Boyd's World says we have the #15 SOS in the country and only 5 SEC teams are ahead of us. Our OOC SOS ranks 71st but that's the highest ranking in the RPI top 10 currently thanks to playing Texas and Clemson on a neutral field to start the year. I'll say by Memorial Day Weekend 7 of the top 10 RPI teams will reside in the SEC. If you're buying the easy schedule narrative you're believing too much of what you read on the internet or listening too attentively to your MSU friends. The numbers tell a different story.

This sec slate so far has been a cakewalk and remains so . I think we can all admit that. Arky out of that gate.. ok they’re tough but that was week 1 but Mizzou/Kentucky/florida aren’t really crushing it.
The only other team in sec play with a winning record we play is Vandy at 7-5 thanks to sweeping Florida and the Aggies
We avoid Texas/lsu/georgia/bama

I think we will be fired up since Doyle and Fischer left us. The team will want to prove a point.

We play them at home instead of that t-ball field in Knoxville. We should have a large crowd on hand. And we aren't nearly as bad of a team as we were 2 seasons ago, so I'm excited about this. Would love to see our mound step up big for this game.

I know it’s Alcon State, but why is Paino playing? First ground ball hit to him is an error.

To get him some playing time against a joke opponent.
Paino will probably be a good player for us one day. But he definitely needs some development. I hope he plays every Tuesday this year. And he should get into some blowouts

Paino will turn out to be a good player, but I think he's gotten stuck in his own head. Kid was highly rated coming out of highschool.

This is getting in to hate crime territory

It wouldn’t be the first time we committed a hate crime on them.
I’m glad they continue to play us, but man I actually feel pretty bad for Alcorn State baseball.

He's 3 for 4 with a walk, a double, and two singles. He needs this kind of game.

Kind of, but all W’s count. When does the 10 run rule come into play?
