The only reason we hate state so much is because they are in fact in our state. LSU would be our biggest rival if not for that.

"Familiarity breeds contempt."
Being a Coastie, I deal with LSU fans a lot. They're not too bad. I much prefer the actual LSU fans from Louisiana to those who jumped on the Tiger bandwagon about 20 years ago. Most of those bandwagoners wear crimson now anyways.

I feel like the game this Saturday is going to be a blowout one way or the other.

Yep.
all depends how we start. If its like bama, were fcked.
only saving grace is that tennessee actually compares to us talent wise. We gotta come out and get a stop/score first drive.

I’m more confident in us beating Tennessee than I was last week against Arkansas. I think Tennessee is a worse version of Arkansas and is closer to Louisville talent wise. My biggest fear is this is their Super Bowl with Georgia and Bama coming up. The defense simply can’t play at the level it did last week or we will lose.

We are also playing at Neyland Stadium that has actually sold out for the first time in 4 years. Where We played Arky at home.
Ive been to Neyland for a UF/Ten game. it was the loudest stadium ive ever been in. This crowd is DYING to be relevant again and beat Kiffin.
Add in that Corrals two worst games last year (Arky and LSU) were both on the road....Makes me a little nervous.
I think its going to be a stupid high scoring game and being up 10-14 in the first half means nothing.

They are going to be hyped. This feels like 2014 LSU except no defense and plenty of offense.

I think Tennessee's offense is better than Arkansas. Arky's offense isn't anything special but they demolished us.

Yes but we match up much better with that style of offense. The 3-2-6 was created to stop an offense exactly like UT's, and our D gets to practice against a UT type offense every day in practice. If they have any pride, they will come out motivated.

This game will probably hinge on whose offense makes the untimely mistakes. A turnover or penalty will most likely swing this thing one way or another.

They've recruited much better than us. Not sure about attrition (which should be bad) and talent development.

Tennessee athletically is lower than Ole Miss was during the probation time. They lost so many guys to transfers it is crazy. At one point their Long-Snapper was their starting MLBer.

Thats what i meant in regard to talent. Yeah they have recruited better but damn they lost a ton of dudes in the offseason to transfer. Theoretically we should run a train on their defense.
This is a defining weekend for Ole Miss as a program going forward. Does D come out motivated after last week? If we can win this game, we have serious momentum rolling into the LSU game next weekend which is very winnable. Huge opportunity for the rebels. LFG

I'd be really careful thinking of this weekend as a "defining moment." Our chances of going 9-3 or even 8-4 regardless of what happens this weekend are still in play and most any year I'd be just fine with that. I just can't complain if we go 9-3, especially if that includes a win over you know who. Yeah, running the table would be something else, but that's nothing more than pipe dream until it becomes reality. And that's not likely in the least.

I have to agree on the importance of this weekend. A road win is house money and our guys playing up to their potential would be huge for the rest of the season.

Anyone else watching The Blind Side tonight? These teams don't see each other enough

Yes it would be huge for the rest of the season but it’s not the last chance that would be huge. It’s one of several. Point is, if it doesn’t work out, all is not lost. Not by a long shot.

It’s a big opportunity that could set the tone for the rest of the season IMO. There are still opportunities left, but getting the W on the road to move to 5-1 provides a lot of momentum going into the home stretch.

LSU and Auburn have looked really good today. Was hoping both of them would implode before we played them.
Posted on 10/16/21 at 2:29 pm to HamzooReb
Not so sure Auburn looked great but rather UPig looked like they were sleep walking. I hope we don’t play like them vs Tenner and that Nix plays like he usually does when we play them.
