Caracci pitches so much, but hey, we’re theoretically still in the mix

After losing this series I think we need to win 2 of 3 vs Auburn and sweep Bama to feel safe as a National seed lock. Still might need to win 1 or 2 in Hoover on top of that.

Stealing that game today was huge though, and Caracci getting the K after 2nd baseman threw away out number 3 was so clutch. A couple weeks ago he wasn’t able to bounce back, especially against a team swinging it like USC. Hopefully he’s found his groove again.

Caracci wasn't just throwing with his arm; he was throwing with his heart. We're fortunate he's a Rebal.

Other than Rolison and Feigl looking awful can't complain too much going up against a hot team like South Carolina. It's tough to win on the road in the SEC. Arkansas lost 2 at LSU and Kentucky lost 2 at Tennessee. Vanderbilt got swept at Auburn. It's still disappointing to lose, but if our starting pitching is average this weekend I think we could have won the series.

Gonna need to go 5-1 for the last two weekends if we want a national seed. Rolison is gonna really have to be on if we want a shot at winning against Mize.

Speaking of the number of pitches Caracci threw in relief, listening to Delta State right now. Playing West Alabama and their pitcher has thrown nearly 130 pitches. Not sure about the wisdom of that.

Woolfork quit the team. Not sure if it’s just a sabbatical, or if it’s permanent

Dallas Woolfork leaves baseball team

He got really bad advice in the offseason to put on a bunch of weight, 25 lbs. iirc, and it’s completely screwed him and his career prospects. It was his fall ball/offseason coaches who convinced him to do this, not our staff, but he’s lost his velocity and movement, and he quite simply has been unusable in conference play more often than not. I hope he gets himself sorted out, both physically and mentally, and I hope he has a chance to pitch for us again, should he want to

The quote from Bianco makes me wonder if something else is going on.. his quote about player’s health being the top priority makes me think he’s dealing with something else. I could be looking too far into it but why else add it if he’s just leaving the team.

CLICK

Still a National Seed in the latest projection. I'm going to be pissed if Arkansas loses their series at UGA and gets to be a National Seed over us with an SEC road record of 4-11 (Assuming we finish 4-2 in the conference).

I’m completely extrapolating here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s depression or something similar. To go from a preseason All-American to losing your job as a closer to maybe not even having a role on the team can’t be easy. Or maybe he’s about to go on some sort of crazy diet or regimen to get himself back to where he was last year. I wish him the best regardless of what’s going on

This top of the 3rd feels like a typical wheels falls off inning, bobble a double play, two balls get away from pitchers

Eta: nevermind

What the hell is Bianco doing bringing in Caracci this early? He's gonna make his arm fall off.

We have to win this game. That’s why he’s in. We have to win this series. We have to win in Jonesboro, and we cannot drop 2 in Tuscaloosa. We really need to win this series and sweep next weekend if we realistically want to be a national seed. It’s extremely unlikely we beat Mize tomorrow, so Caracci could be available Saturday depending on how many rocks he hurls tonight
