Why? Werner was a proven coach. A Hugh Freeze team is never going to have issues scoring. He made the best hire for his scheme. Fans are taking that one game and equating the man as a failure before he even touches a game.

Well, I've said this before, but I'll say it again, outside of the message board and forum world probably 90 percent of Ole Miss fans can even tell you who the new hires are, so for the most part they'll get a fair start among our fans.

Yes. A career WR coach over a proven OC. Give me Longo.

Some of guys on here have no earthly idea what they are talking about. People act if the guy is bring FCS players with him. It's just a scheme. It's still football. He will be fine and if I had to guess the running game will be better and he will offer more in recruiting.

Side note: what happened to Patterson? Great A&M game and then the suck.

What happened to Patterson was 1. Our defense sucked/s and two teams started to play a linebacker spy which didn't allow for him to run around as much. My beef with Longo comes from the fact they Sam Houston didn't play any good fcs teams until they got to the playoffs. I get the fact that they played with a back up qb and what ever, but their offensive stats were inflated given the level of talent they faced. But I also realize that we were not going to get a big time d1 offensive coordinator give the clouds that are over the program right now and honestly if you're not going to Bama why would you make a lateral move like that?. That being said, we could have gone after a successful mac or mwc or sunbelt offensive coordinator. I would have been more satisfied. I'm hoping longo is the answer to our offensive problems but we won't know until we start playing.

Calling plays against Alabama or even Vanderbilt is much different than calling plays against Stephen F. Austin or Central Arkansas. That is all we're saying. Longo will have far more talented players at his disposal but he will also face far more talented defenses. There are some things schematically that will have to be adjusted to account for the speed of SEC defenses.

There would've been less to adjust for a person coming from the AAC, Sun Belt, etc...

He's an SEC OC now and we are all posting on a message board. I think he realizes he will have to adjust. This isn't rocket science, it's football.
