Kiffin's buyout

I'm talking about the buyout if he's poached. Only $4 million this year, and decreases each year. That seems awfully low.

Was told if it was another SEC school it’s $12 million

Hope that's true but I haven't seen that reported anywhere. Would be good to know because I definitely think Florida will be calling in the next year or 2.

Source for $4 million
I'd like it to be a lot higher not only to deter poaching, but if he is poached, it will cause a lot of disruption that will cost more than $4 million to smooth out.

The fact that the amount of the buy out is conjecture means that there is no meaningful buy out. The reality is CLK did and still holds all the cards in the contract negotiations. We spent 50 years putting ourselves in this position. Now if he sticks around for a few more years and we have some sustained success then maybe the leverage will shift or at least even out with the buy out clause for his replacement.
This is also the primary reason CHF was lightning in a bottle for us. I am not saying that he would never have left but I don't remember that ever being an issue. CHF could also recruit high school like it was nobodies business (see liberty and now auburn). If you factor in the signature wins it just felt like we were finally on a sustainable path to long term relevance. Then it imploded. I am still depressed over this.
I think Missouri has something kind of similar to CHF going on with drinkwitz and he is not going anywhere.
IMHO living and dying by the portal is a fickle mistress and is not a recipe for sustained success. I appreciate the success of the last couple years (and hopefully this year) but one way or the other I think 2024 is the climax of the CLK experience. I hope I eat crow for these remarks.

Possibly, but we are getting into the well-oiled machine part of the LK era. Of course he could leave for somewhere else whenever he wants but I honestly think it may be the NFL or bust. I don't think he would want to go to another college team and have to start over with staffing and recruiting, hope for the same level of control and buy-in that he currently has at Ole Miss, and get his system in place... it's a lot, especially now that his kids are involved in everything Oxford & Ole Miss. His 80 year old mom also lives in Oxford. He's a bit more planted in Oxford than a lot of people realize, and especially the haters don't understand any of this.
Just ignore any and all rumors and if he goes, he goes. We will be fine. We have done a good job of marketing our program and good coaches would love a working environment like we offer.

This is his 5th year here and he’s elevated our program into the national spotlight. If he left, I wouldn’t be sore at him.

Me neither. To be honest, what's more annoying than him leaving is the reaction of our fanbase acting like a overly possessive crazy girlfriend every time it is mentioned.
