He said if we land RN look for our base defense next year to be a 3-4 with DT and CJ at OLB. That would be sick nasty. Only issue is we need a 3 technique DT badly.

Isn't Gross our 3 technique?

I believe Gross would be a little undersized for a 3-4 nose tackle. You need a Terrance Cody-type fatass to take on two or three blockers and plug holes. Gilbert Pena would probably be a good one.

He's pretty small... Granted he will gain weight this offseason... But his technique is borderline flawless

Gross at 280-290 would be unfair. Gross in the middle with ward and RN on opposite sides? Holy shite

This new commit Darious Cummings might be a good one to play nose tackle. 6'3" 305 lbs. 4 star recruit on rivals.

Gross would be perfect as the weak side DT. He essentially is a DT/DE hybrid.

I don't think the 3-4 fits us honestly. Who know's if DT comes back healthy. CJ will probably get switched abck to LB. I expect Ward and RN to start at end and Cummings and Gross at the defensive tackle spots.

Well if we anything from this year we are going to be multiple. Even if 3-4 is our base as will probably run a lot of 4-3 against Bama and LSU type power running teams and 3-4 against spread offenses.

I don't think the 3-4 would fit our current personel.

where does that leave denzel? he is small for a 4-3 lb

gross? if we put him at de in the 3-4 where does that leave ward if we were to get robert. and so on

lots of ifs but it doesn't seem like the guys we have now would fit right. but I guess anytime you switch schemes its gonna be a difficult transition

I dont know much about the 3-4 but I think your outside guys are suppose to be your LB's who can put their hand on the ground. Denzel would play on the inside with Mike. Its basically the same defense, you just take CJ's hand off the ground sometimes

yes the outside lbs would be fine with cj and if dt can come back. but the inside guys are going to be frequently taking on blocks from the interior linemen and denzel is more or a flashy guy that makes tackles by avoiding blocks

explains lb responsibilities

I thought one of the reasons RN basically ruled out UGA and Bama was because they run 3-4. He wants to play the same position in college as the NFL and he's projected as a 4-3 end
