Yep, hire Tom Allen and give him money to get a big name OC and we would have a good program again.

This isn't an overnight fix, but Tom Allen would have us competitive again in a couple seasons, like Freeze was able to do

As I said, 36th in the country may work for Indiana but that will not work for Ole Miss or any team in the SEC West. He is a good coach and a heck of a lot better than Luke but we need high caliber athletes.

Our last two good runs were due in part to having athletes talented enough to compete with the big boys.

All that being said, if we did hire Tom Allen, I would actually be very happy. I just think that we can do better if we try.

What talent does the state of Indiana have??? I bet Mississippi produces more than 10x the talent coming out of there. I honestly didnt think you could say something so stupid.

I believe the point being made is that, relative to how Indiana usually recruits, he is vastly exceeding expectations. And it stands to reason that if he can recruit well at a shite school like Indiana then he could set the world on fire at Ole Miss.

I don’t think there’s any question playing in the SEC combined with access to Mississippi and southeastern football talent would equal to much better than a 36th ranked recruiting class. So yes, I agree with all y’all. Almost the same difference if we had a successful basketball coach and he goes to Indiana it would just be easier for him to lure in players given the emphasis they put on that sport.

We are no. 5 for blue chip talent (4 and 5*) and Indiana is 18. Indiana also has Purdue and Notre Dame.

SB Nat

Aaaaand here's one that says IN has more talent. doesn't sound right

I just looked at rivals Mississippi has 69 three star or higher recruits and Indiana has 18. That's not even including what we can take out of Memphis.

That's probably a better way to look at it. My links were for 4 and 5* and neither school is landing a bunch of those.

This. 100%. I feel like what is the point in even trying anymore. We turn our program around, just like Saban did at LSU not that long ago and suddenly the rest of the SEC (and country for that matter) loses their damn minds. MSU got so involved I truly believe it had an impact on their program as well. I honestly believe if we were to get that good again the same damn thing would happen. Everyone would get mad on social media. State fans would be camping out and doing FOIA's all over the place. The witch hunt would begin all over again. I truly hope to be proven wrong on this.

I think our fan base is a bit delusional about who we can pull in... Freeze was good for this program and it’s clear we were not allowed to be elite. Like a bunch of sore losers the rest of the SEC threw a tantrum and waved their arms crying “How can Ole Miss get these recruits?!” Honestly my outlook on college football changed after that and the corruption became clear. The market for OM is not as strong as other schools. It was a 6-year investigation lol. And what we did is nothing that isn’t happening at other schools and much of it was petty.
