Players react to Luke being hired

This is why we hired him. The players love him and they won't quit on him. I don't care what your feelings are about him as a coach, and I can understand if you have reservations with him. Regardless of your opinion, he is the head coach and deserves to be treated as such.

I hope that our fan base can pull together for him and have this same attitude that the players have.

Hotty Toddy, and go Rebels.

So rake him over the coals when he doesn't win 7 games a year and gets blown out on a regular basis?

I'm cool with that

I'll gain some respect for Luke if he dismisses any of the players who threatened to transfer if he wasn't named head coach. We don't need fickle minded players on our team like that

I think it entertaining that so many fans of Ole Miss are under the impression that Ole Miss is a great jumping off point for the next biggest coach in college football.

Ole Miss isn't even the most attractive job in the state of Mississippi.

Why would Charlie Strong want to come to Ole Miss over MSU at this point? State is an established program with 8 years of stability and plenty of scholarships available.

Many talk of how Ole Miss should throw money at these coaches, most who would take the state job over the Ole Miss job at this point.

We aren't offering a great situation, were aren't a perennial football power house and no coach wants to be linked to any NCAA investigations at this point.

We are who we are, we are the fan base with the ugly daughter. No one wants to be told they have an ugly daughter, but our football program is an ugly daughter. She might be sweet, fun and loyal, but no coach in his right mind is going to date her at this point.

We have a lot of work to do in order to get her more pleasing to the eyes.

I'm glad 2 of our players went to hug Luke. Out of 100 players in the room, at least 2 were grateful.

This video makes me feel a little better about the hire, but not really. Most those players will be gone in two years. Is Matt gonna recruit without cheating and get us those caliber players? Prolly not.
My biggest hope in Matt Luke is that he's learned a lot from his coaching mistakes this season, and I hope he contiounsly progresses. We need him to, because he wasn't too good of coach this year to be blunt.
