USC portal linebacker Danny Lockhart announces transfer to Ole Miss

quote:

Ole Miss received a walk-on commitment on Saturday from former USC linebacker Danny Lockhart Jr.. He was a reserve, walk-on linebacker at USC last season. The 6-0, 225-pounder is out of St. John Bosco High School in Redlands, Calif.

Danny Lockhart is the older brother of class of 2024 linebacker Jordan Lockhart. The younger Lockhart visited the Ole Miss campus twice this year with his father, Danny Lockhart Sr. Obviously, the family liked what they saw from Ole Miss and Oxford.

That does sound like we aren't as interested as he may be in him coming to us. Again, wouldn't mind him coming over, but he has much less time than Corral to be molded into a true winner.

Jordan Watkins - Transfer WR from Louisville should pick us this week over FSU and WVU.

Very fast WR - should be a nice deep threat

Bo Nix sucks. He has moments of greatness but many more where he just plain sucks.

I think Lane ghosted Nix to put it in today's terms. I think the Altmyer kid could be good but that would leave us with only two qb's right?

Nix would have only been a distraction to the program. He would start games due to stellar performances and then be benched in some due to atrocious play. He's like Kermit Davis... a weird mixture of overachieving and underachieving. With him, we would do that shite where we beat an Alabama but lose to a Vanderbilt.

No thank you.

For those interested, here's the 247 write up on him:

quote:

“Great frame with length and can easily play at 200 pounds. During live evaluation size, checks out. Multi-sport performer (track and football) who produces in all three phases on high school level. Long strider who covers space quickly. Has size to play safety and hip looseness to play cornerback. Changes direction well. Has speed to cover to the sideline from the safety position on balls thrown down the field. Has excellent ball skills. Willing to come up and fill run gap and be physical at point of attack. Great body control and sure tackler in space. Instinctual player with frame flexibility. Has to work on coverage technique, including backpedal and being more consistent with footwork. Has to show he can cover man-to-man at the line of scrimmage. Needs to work on jams and re-routing receivers if he is going to play corner rather than safety in college. Multi-year starter at Top 20 program.”

Sounds like Isheem Young, safety from Iowa State, is trending towards committing to us this week.

quote:

Safety Isheem Young, a sophomore and one of the brightest stars on Iowa State’s football team, is one of multiple players who entered the transfer portal on Monday. The Big 12 Conference’s co-defensive freshman of the year in 2020, leaves the program with a starting streak of 19 games.

Why is he leaving? Did we simply outbid Iowa State?

Cameron Ward (FCS QB) who took a visit to OM committed to Washington State today.

I know a lot of fans on here were concerned about his slow throwing motion

I would have loved to have him, but his coach took the coordinator job at Washington state so that was pretty much that

Last year as a recruit he was the #4 TE in the country.
