Way too many services rely on Cloudflare, and they've had a rough year with stability with AI bots.

Most "AI" isn't AI it's just advanced programming labeled as AI for a selling point. True AI doesn't even exist. AI has also become a buzzword and business leaders love to invest in pointless buzzwords.

Yes, the push to the cloud was supposed to prevent these types of things but it also means that instead of putting everything in one basket, you are putting everything in one group of baskets. There are still single points of failure all over the place. This shouldn't happen but idiots in charge don't typically listen to us engineers.

I think today might be the day I get banned from the coaching changes board, again. But I just can’t help myself. It’s just too easy.

As a software developer, what you said isn't accurate.. AI has a hierarchy and what you're thinking of is AGI (which doesn't exist). But LLM, DL, ML, Generative AI, etc... are all classified as ANI - which is AI.

But yeah, there's no AGI today.

Well, yes, but nobody knows that, which is why I refer to it as "true AI." But I am completely accurate about things being labeled AI which aren't really that much more advanced than an excel formula.

Remember IoT, the cloud, edge computing, etc? All pretty much bullshite terms that people used to simply sell products and services to brainless CTOs.

Sending Layla, his sister in law and one of their kids to Baton Rouge after they did the same thing sending them to Gainesville on Sunday.

I mean, if you are saying "true AI" is only AGI, then yep. But, technically, there is AI today.

I remember at a previous job at a small software company that was run by this very old lady, she was so confused about "the cloud" and all of the marketing on it. She was adamantly opposed to it. I heard her on the phone with a customer telling them that the cloud was dangerous because the data was just floating around and not stored on any secure server. After she got off the call, I went into her office and had a chat with her and explained to her that "the cloud" didn't mean data was just floating around in the sky and just meant it was hosted offsite. She argued with me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I'm so damn glad I got the hell out of that place. From my understanding, that company is on life support today and hasn't been able to retain any developers for longer than 6 months.

Well, it turned into that, which is my main gripe. The original and correct concept was services and data in 2 or more geographically diverse locations for fault tolerance. The funny thing is at one company, we had to explain that their push to the cloud was pointless because we already had an internal cloud because we had 5 datacenters with diversity and if we lost one, we could still operate at 100%.
