Maybe because our defense was manhandling him the whole game. Face the facts, we made him play bad.

We started a True Freshmen at QB, what more could you ask for going into a rivalry game?

Then y'all had the best defense in the entire SEC. Funny how y'all couldn't stop other offenses the same way

I'm on y'alls board so I have to be careful. I hate it so much when fans say "it took _______ for y'all to beat us". Well no shite It takes a lack in something to win every game. No team that loses ever plays perfect football. Bo played a bad game, YES. But to say that his performance alone is the reason why y'all lost is close-minded and childish. The fact that we started a 3rd string true freshmen and still won completely negates any counter argument. Also, I would like to respectfully point out that 2 of Bo's 3 picks were absolutely unbelievable plays from our CB. THe fact that both those balls were picked is a miracle. The 3rd one was a tipped pass, once again a forced error. So technically, all 3 pics were more forced by State than Bo's bad decision making, however they were bad decisions

Our offense was better than yours all year long. What I'm saying is if everything was normal that night (Bo doesn't play his worst game ever and Dak plays healthy) we win. That's an opinion of course an one based on games are won on paper and not on the field so I do admit you have a good argument. Since we both return similar amounts of players I guess we will see if it was a fluke in November

True.

I understand what your saying, but here's my problem with that. Bo had the opportunity to play well. Dak had no choice to not start. Bo played bad, but we forced him to make errors, that's football. On his interceptions, his throws were off, both should not have been picks, but two outstanding plays were made; one being a lucky one handed grab by Nickoe and the other being inches away from being out of bounds on the jump ball. The third was a forced interception. IMO, y'all aren't giving any credit to how well our defense prepared and played against Bo.

I guess we will, but I wouldn't say our win was a fluke. We flat out just played better football, but that happens to the best of them, even Alabama.

2012: 8-4 regular season BUT LOST TO TSUN. "We were a horrible team." 2013: 6-6 regular season with 1 point win over Bowling Green, 6 point win over UK with Overtime wins against Arky AND TSUN!!!1!1! "We had such a better team this season, next season we're gonna be so legit, Dak may even win the heisman!" Did I get the state narrative right? Why do you base your team's total value on the outcome of the egg bowl?

Not a single knowledgeable State fan thinks we were a horrible team because we lost to Ole Miss. We think we were a horrible team because we didn't beat anyone with a pulse.

We had QB injuries all season. Yes, we played shitty against BG, UK, and Arky. However, the overall talent this year is way better than 2012, that's obvious. Dak put up unbelievable stats for the amount of games he played in, excuse us for being optimistic next year. You'd be doing the same thing in this situation.

Dak may even win the heisman
Only certain Ole Miss fans are taking this seriously

Certain fans do, I however, do not.
ETA: if you watched our bowl game, we were absolutely dominant. I know we were only playing Rice, but Dak was unbelievable

1st go back to the spirit
2nd, if you believe W/L records are the end all be all you're a moron. Our 2012 schedule was a joke. We didn't play one good team to a competitive game. In 2013 we played the conferences top two teams well into the 4th quarter with the SEC champion needing a fluke last second pass to beat us. In 2012 we played Troy tough.

Yeah he's pretty bad. I don't think y'all are given enough credit for last year. We weren't that much better than y'all last year, we just had a couple more playmakers on offense. People who say "there's no excuse for us to have lost the Egg Bowl last year" are mainly just spirit homers. There's no excuse for us to play as bad as we did in some areas that game, but looking back at it it's not some huge surprise that y'all beat us.

We were using a pass happy offensive system with a run 1st OL and like two decent receivers. It was a disaster.

This really is all I was trying to say

And the constant quarterback question didn't help much either. If Mullen would have went with Dak from day one y'all's season turns out totally different

Very True. I say we would have beaten A&M, Auburn and maybe LSU depending on the 4th quarter, but they probably would have still pulled it out because of the curse.

I had a bad feeling for the EB this past season. Our offensive line had issues with any decent defense all season. I don't think State was necessarily the better team, but when Tunsil went out, I conceded the game.
State was a much better team in 2013 than 2012, and I think we'll both have good teams for 2014, so it should be interesting.

I think with Morris, Tunsil, CJ, Golson, and Dak out, our teams teams were even talent wise. Bo played terrible but state was able to get to him with 4 guys. It's hard for any QB to be good when you have 3 seconds to the throw the ball with 5 DB's in coverage. With all the injuries the talent was so close that we had to play past regulation. Hell even both our kickers were shitty that night.

You're so fricking stupid. Nearly every OM poster will tell you that if you think we are basing our 2014 expectations solely on the 2013 Egg Bowl.
eta: I replied before seeing pivey and NIH's response, so I apologize for being somewhat redundant.

and y'all will win the EB because a drunk State fan said something to Denzel on the beach. Early grats
