Are we ready to step in about 5 yards or are we still giving 10 yard cushions when the ball is snapped??

Hopefully we have 2 defensive plays for the secondary this week.

If we throw away another game like Memphis, FSU, Arky, etc from soft cushion play and 10 yard pops to big fat white tight ends again this year I'll straight seppuku myself.

I think I saw a quote from someone in Twitter to expect more press coverage from us this weekend

Bama hasn't gone with very many intermediate routes through their first 2 games for some reason.

Maybe I'm wrong and/or misguided, but I'd much rather see our DBs much closer to the receivers at the snap knowing full well we might get beaten deep some. I'd rather give up a quick score or two than have our defense pounded on early before wilting late.

We need to pull our LB's off the line more. Less stunts and blitzes, more over the middle and underneath pass coverage. Our LB's may not be the best when it comes to pass coverage, but I would imagine that Alabama is going to spread the field with at least 3 wide on every play and force our safeties/corners to commit to stopping the deep pass.

Our defensive line is good enough and deep enough to apply enough pressure on Hurts and stop the running game on its own. If we don't pull LB's off more and do more QB spies and underneath coverage, we will get beat all game by 5 or 6 yard check downs.

So, we had our LBs up on the line against Wofford and they ran up and down the field on us. And now you want to drop them back into pass coverage and leave our DL to deal with Alabama"s running game on its own?

Wofford most likely has a more efficient rushing attack than Bama has thus far TBH.

Well yea. Let's mix it up... Stay in the same coverage all game it not hard to figure out....

I want to see some exotic shite.. Even if we get burned.. I want to see 7 men on the line of scrimmage standing upright.. nobody knows who the hell is rushing or dropping into coverage..make the freshman panic..

With receivers like Ridley and Stewart, getting beat deep would probably happen more than "some." I'm going to be pissed if we get nickel and dimed with OJ Howard, but I'm not sure if that'd be better or worse than watching Stewart and Ridley catch bombs repeatedly to smash us. Hurts still looks raw, but he also looks to be more versatile than the 3 Bama QBs we've faced since McCarron. Two competently thrown deep balls on two beat coverages should result in 14 Bama points, and I'm not sure I wanna see that.

Hurts is only around like 20% on passes beyond 20 yards this season. Granted small sample. Press that shite

^ This!!!!!

At least mix up the coverages and trust the front half so the safeties help the CBs

I don't want us pressing. The FSU gameplan wasn't sexy but it worked. Let me explain. FSU had 6 FGs. We can live with that. You take away the two turnovers inside our own 25 yard line and we win the game.

The problem was of course instead of giving a "cushion" guys were playing off 10 yards and then continuing to drop back even further after the snap. That will be corrected.

The goal was to make the qb for FSU have to make some tight throws once the field became condensed.

The offense lost the game. Those turnovers were killers and that 3rd quarter might have been the worst output of offense since the Bo Wallace years.

Bama WRs are better than our CBs. Let them dink and dunk. Don't lose the game getting torched on deep routes. Just don't play 20 yards off your man.

If we can't get the running game going, we're screwed regardless.

It's going to be a record breaking year for qb's against us.

Yep, we'll have to outscore most folks. That's also something I think we can do. If anything, we score too damn quick.

Well we've scored 77 points in our two losses...

I guess we need at least 50 per game to look at a 7 win season..

So sad... Our offense is soo lethal .... and have such a crutch on the other side...

Crutch on the other side? We have a true freshman playing at safety, two freshmen at CB and the defense did more than enough to win.

The offense and special teams lost this game. Take away the dumb penalty by Speaks, Chad and the Two turnovers, and the punt in the middle of the field we win.

None of that has anything to do with the defense.
