Games like this are must wins in my opinion since the SEC is so much better this year. We are looking at 3 top 10 SEC teams this year with teams like Tenn, Arky, and Bama being top 25 worthy. Even teams like Mizzou and LSU have had solid wins this year. We have to bring our best every night if we want to even think about sniffing the tourny.

Welp 2 teams in a row will now have good wins when it comes to March and we will be yet again a bubble team with 19 wins.
Can someone with a higher Basketball IQ please explain our offense at the end of the game? Stevens took about the worst shots I’ve ever seen.

Everyone took terrible shots. Tyree is a liability.

Burnett was ice cold at the last few minutes. We led for about 38.5 minutes and still blew it.

Some teams are clutch, and some are not. We are not. 13-24 from the line is also ridiculous

No sir. Tyree was not the problem. Missing 12 free throwsand Dres iso airballs with 24 seconds on the shot clock were the problem. Also don’t wanna see another 3 ball attempt by Stephens.

Stephens missed like 5 3s in a row. What made it ok for him to keep shooting? Is that just our offense? Was that just the play? Surely after the 3rd or 4th bad miss in a row AK tells him just drove to the lane you’re cold dude.

The word at JC was he was a stretch 4 I guess. Whoever put his mixtape together did a helluva job. He was surely shooting and making the 3 ball. Something that ain’t happened yet

We just aren't a tournament team. Tournament teams win games like the last two.

You just have to wonder what they see in practice everyday. It's still a very long season, but our margin for error as they say, always seems to be razor thin. Allowing these type games to get away can be so costly in the end.

As I've said on more than one occasion, I'm a Kennedy fan. However, it seems we have the right talent assembled to expect to at least make a firm push at getting in the tournament given adequate coaching and at this rate, that won't happen of course. Our three losses are to teams with a combined record of 20-5, so that's not too bad. Nonetheless, we have two home court losses and a neutral court loss already, and that my friends represents huge blown opportunities.

For sure this was a must win. I have always felt like a very realistic OM basketball fan. I have always recognized basketball as being the third sport here at the university. I have supported and defended Andy Kennedy when sometimes he didn't deserve to be defended. But I think we can be a better program and I believe settling for street balling and non fundamental basketball is not the way to be. We are selling the program short by setting for this every year. AK''s lack of ability when it comes to developing players is unacceptable. We have had the talent to win 25 games a year in several of the seasons we won 18-22 games. It's time for a change.

^^^ This very well may be the reason for the lack of a contract extension. I don't wish for anybody's demise, but there does come a time when a million dollar coach should be expected to accomplish certain things. I know we don't have much of a basketball tradition, and the Pavilion hasn't been an asset for very long, but a trend into a better direction should start pretty soon. The grass is not always greener on the other side, but I fear we are approaching territory where many fans are willing to roll the dice on a new coach. That said, with everything else going on in the athletic department, the powers that be may not yet be ready to make a change in basketball as well. The team we are all expecting things from was assembled by Kennedy needless to say; I sure would like to see him do more with them.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said except yesterday was a must win.
TD/Hymon have taken huge steps this year. Burnett hasn’t impressed me since he’s been here but have heard he was hurt last year so he can have a pass. But those iso step backs that don’t even hit rim are a waste of a possession. Stephens is slowly adjusting but just like those Siaz 3 balls somebody insists on our bigs to keep shooting them.
Yesterday was a game against a potentially top 25 game and the Pavilion wasn’t half way full on a Saturday afternoon. That’s pathetic. The fans have never fully supported Ole Miss basketball. We have a top notch facility and can’t even half way fill it. Come on man.
And as far as AK he’s out performed expectations literally every year he’s been here. Won 20 games 9 or 10 times in 12 years.

Fan support is awful. You could go to the game yesterday for like 12 dolkars

Fans don’t win games. If we had a packed house those are still bad shots and they aren’t going in. We were up by like 15 at one point second half with only half a crowd. I was there, I love om baskeball but we won’t get packed houses until sec ball starts or until Marshal gains another year of eligibility. Or unless we win a lot of games. Football doesn’t even sell out when we are average.
Winning 20 games gets you to the NIT, I’m tired of this being some sort of measure of success. It’s not.

20 games get NIT if your ole miss. In the acc or big 10 it gets a to ncaa

20 is cool on paper but most of the non-conference wins have come off soft schedules and bottom level sec teams..
AK loaded up his schedule this year which I appreciate, but we have to win some of these to get in the tournament. We have to win out NC games which won’t be easy with MTSU coming up.. if we finish with only one more NC loss (at texas) that puts us at 9 wins. We will have to win 11 conference games in a stacked SEC. makes me a little nervous with terrible inside play so far this year. Dom is a bust and Bruce Stevens is learning but can’t do it all down low.
