We can't seriously be denying Pennamon for the possibility of signing someone else. That's dumb and I refuse to believe it.

It fits the narrative that we feel great about Akers and 7 others in this class. If it's true it is a really good sign.

Do you think that the staff is really putting that much stock in a currently committed Bama recruit for NEXT year? He's certainly no guarantee even if he did flip to OM.

Quality depth at the RB position behind Shea would be huge. I just can't imagine a scenario where we willingly pass on this kid, he's the truth.

My personal opinion is that Swinney was just as good pre injury and Akers is an Elite back. If passing on Penn helps is with Akers then I think we are fine at RB for 2016.

Right. As crazy as it sounds, if Pennamon doesn't have a spot it means we are finishing with the #1 class assuming everyone signs.
Without Penn we have 21 commits. It COULD mean we finish with:
Kongbo
Hall
Simmons
Carter
AJ
Mique
Anderson
That is assuming Kobe Jones isn't one of the 7.
If the rumor of Akers flipping soon are true, we really don't need a RB. K. Hill probably ends up at MSU. We'd just have to fight top schools off to keep Akers next year.
Safe to say if Penn doesn't have a spot its believed to be a very good thing. (Outside of losing him)

IF we were to get Hall, I would prefer Pennamon over Kongbo. Konbgo is raw and will only have 2 years to play anyways. Akers would be huge but I would think Richmond taught us to never put all your eggs in one basket with regards to recruiting. Everyone in the country is after Akers, who can't sign until next year, so if Pennamon will put his name to paper tomorrow, you find a spot for him.
