My doctor told me that it really builds your immune system and that you can take as many as you want without worrying about overdose. I bought the strongest ones at Wal-Mart and I took 3 per day and when the whole family got a cold I didn't. Right now the wife and 3 kids are all sick with the Flu but not me. I believe it was all those vitamins or I am just lucky as hell. Thought I would do you guys a solid and suggest it at least.

I take it. But just for fun. Not really sure if it works.

My wife had the flu a few years ago and was completely down, in bed for several days. I slept in the same bed with her throughout the ordeal and didn't so much as catch a sniffle. Wasn't taking any vitamins or supplements at the time and I've never had the flu shot or had the flu since I was a child. Anecdotes are fun aren't they?

Vitamin D is a fricking miracle drug and I mean this.

I am a diabetic. In 2009 I was suffering with debilitating diabetic neuropathy, which are shooting pains like electrical shocks in your legs. Think about it like your leg being "asleep" and never stopping. Hurts.

This was such a problem that my doctors sent me to neurologists who did painful nerve tests, I tried accupuncture (which helped some) and I took a variety of meds. This was while watching my insulin and exercising and doing all the "right things" to help myself. No luck. My doctor was ready to send me to the Mayo clinic.

About that time doctors started adding a test for vitamin D levels to standard physicals. My Dr. did the test and found out that my vitamin D level was at a 28. This was on a scale that runs from 30-80. So he prescribed a prescription dose of vitamin D. 20,000 IU dose taken once a week for a month. Then come back for a recheck.

So I get the scrip filled. Within 2 hours of taking the first pill, I stopped having pain. I called the doctor and told him he was a fricking genius. He had no idea what I was talking about. The vitamin D helped me.

Heres what this stuff does. It protects and enhances the mylen sheath on your nerves. This is like the plastic insulation on a electrical wire. excess sugar from diabetes erodes that sheath and causes short circuits. Thats what caused my pain.

Ive taken it every day since and have never had htis problem again. shite WORKS.

its good for your heart for similar reasons and helps with retention of calcium which is good for bones and for nerves too.

Wow didn't know that. My doctor said he put every member of his family on it. He has me on it for it's effect on the immune system and it is good for your heart. I have convinced the rest of my family to take it now.

That's mostly attributed to people refraining from going outside due to their depression.

Vitamin D is produced by the body as a reaction to sunlight. Many people have deficiencies in the Winter because they're not outside enough. There's a type of depression associated with lack of vitamin D, SADD (Seasonal Affective Disorder Depression).

I take vitamins D and B12 as immune boosters. A healthy immune system can fight off viruses like influenza better than most. You're probably still exposed and take in the virus but it isn't in a dose that can overwhelm your immune system.

Does oral B12 really do good?

Doctors always seem to say it is the shots that actually work because the body processes it better.

The common cold virus is very innocuous and fairly. It's just the symptoms of a human body's response to the virus to make a person feel miserable. Typically, the healthier you are and the stronger your immune system the "sicker" you are. So if you are one of those people who never catch a cold...

Also you should refrain from high doses of vitamins. Not because of side effects from the dose, but because commercially sold vitamins aren't regulated or are regulated laxly by the FDA. Most vitamins that you purchase of store shelves or from "Nutritional Health Centers" have low quality control standards and in some cases do not even contain the vitamins advertised.

I would think it depends on the level of deficiency. We get B12 from eating meat so Vegans no doubt could benefit from shots. Otherwise oral doses probably suffice.

I take 5000 mcg pills that dissolve under your tongue for anemia. Works great. Wal-Mart also has liquid in 2000 mcg.

You can't get it from the sun in winter unless you live in south florida. temp has to be at least in mid 80's.

Yep. Once you get used to him it is hard not to like him though. He is my favorite barner.
