They didn't scan the can peas, the rang then by hand.

What does "rang" mean? Like typed in the amount by hand instead of the computer doing it?

I remember gas attendants filling the tank, getting anything wanted out of the filling station and washing the windshield.
And a milkman and occasionally getting a gallon of chocolate milk.
Community dances.
Walking to the store and buying 3 or 4 pieces of individual candy for under a dollar.
When kids hung out and street racing was huge.

Those things were notorious for snapping tape. It happened to me once and I never used one ever again.

Yes, the milkman! We used to get 2 & 1/2 gallon cartons of Carnation milk delivered to our house. Came with a special spicket. No such thing as 2%, 1%, fat free. Just milk, the way it was intended to be drunk.

The taste of milk always made me sick, but I used to really like putting the milk we got from our cow over some cereal.

Even better!
I was the opposite. As a kid, I drank milk instead of water.

It was awesome, but I don't miss milking that fricking thing twice a day. I've never had less fun with tits in my hand.

I remember seeing Cassius Clay in Louisville.
I remember going to see Wes Unsel play college ball.
I remember watching Lew Al Cindor in college.
I remember when we got our first TV.
I remember in the 60s when we got our first color TV just in time to watch the Wizard of Oz on TV that night.
I remember where I was when JFK was shot.
I remember where I was the day the verdict was handed down for Caley on the my lai massacre.
I remember where I was when MLK was assassinated.
I remember watching David Brinkley report that Marilyn Monroe was dead.
I remember riding around in my Mom and Dad's first vehicle ... a 1946 Ford Pickup that my Dad bought used for $150 from my uncle in 1950 before I was born. I learned to drive three in the column in that truck.
I remember when Elvis was bigger than anyone today.
I remember when McDonald's burgers were a nickel, Nehi and Coke in a bottle outta the box was a dime ... and moonpies were 2.cents.
I remember when Dan Reeves was the star ballplayer at SCAR.
