In college I used to visit tuscaloosa frequently because I had several friends there. They had a neighbor who we nicknamed CBR for cowboy roy. This guy was black, but he was whiter than all of us put together. I never saw him wear anything other than a PFG fishing shirt, pastel colored of course. Shorts barely mid-thigh and some sort of deck shoe. Costas with croakies were a staple. This guy grilled out, dipped, played guitar, I mean it was almost a joke. But he was definitely a fun guy to be around.

I remember cooking up a bunch of tri tip for about a dozen family members. It was a beautiful medium rare to medium in the edges. Most of them wouldn't eat it that way, so I had to desecrate a couple pounds for them. It was the first time I was truly disappointed by my family.
