They aren’t.
Emory is in Atlanta.
Morehouse is in Atlanta.
Mercer is in Macon.
Medical College of Georgia (the state’s current medical school) is in Augusta and now part of Augusta University.
UGA School of Medicine will be in Athens.

UAB is in the University of Alabama college system.
There’s no need for a med school at both campus. There is a good nursing school at the Tuscaloosa campus.

The Med School has a presence in Tuscaloosa on UA's campus and some med students spend a substantial part of their time there. There's a similar situation with UAH.

The medical school at Auburn is similar to the one at Va Tech. Schools are not producing enough doctors so more schools are necessary.

Mercer and Morehouse serve a purpose... that being providing doctors for rural and inner city hospitals respectively.
Morehouse’s purpose is to produce black doctors for the inner city. Not sure if other races are allowed admission as it’s an HBCU.

South Alabama is a good bargain choice. I know folks who've graduated from there with remarkably little debt.

UAB's campus and hospital portfolio is quite impressive.

Same, and not just bargain — they (at least used to) accept residency-matching for couples.
Know a radiologist and his wife who did that, and they're both doing quite 'aight.

A question about Arkansas. Why does the entire state not have a dental school. I believe Arkansas is the only SEC state without a dental school
