As for why, why not? I'm a girl. Why should I have to pretend I'm a guy/not have something in my feminine in my screen name when I'm not a guy?

You don't have to pretend to be a guy, I just find it odd that women feel the need to differentiate themselves.

I also see it other places online, like playing Xbox. There is always a person called GamerGurl or Gamerchick or some other variation. I feel this is due in part to online gaming being another predominantly male driven entertainment source, so women feel like they're special when they engage in it. Like they're not some prissy girl because they like video games.

Same with football on the SecRant, I never see any female posters actually discussing sports, it's always "insert player here is sooooooo sexy, I wonder if he likes Pinterest recipes and trendy cupcakes" and other such nonsense.

Also, AUnite could kind of sort of go either way (though that is kind of a weird guy name). Her avi was what set her apart. Dat arse.

Please feel free to check my post history on this one. I discuss sports (as well as several of the other ladies here) all the time. On multiple boards. Matter of fact I've not seen anything like what you're saying here.

Holy hell, I don't think I've ever seen that posted.

You like that, Missy? That was 870Hog's personal cartoon.

How do you think it'll go over on the rant? Porker's reaction will be priceless...

Why do you have hog in your screen name? Why would you want to differentiate yourself from other SEC fans?

You're putting a little too much stock in a screen name.

I'm pretty sure anyone with a brain cell can differentiate make/female posts within a day, so why not use an appropriate gender screen name?

I know I haven't been here long, but I have not seen this. Btw I am a female with a nondescript username.

Not really the same thing, but if I posted on a bridge club message board and my handle was BridgeDude your comparison would be valid.

Hilarious, and I think most of the Arkies will think so as well.

I don't think this is the case on the SEC Rant at all. There is one that I can think of, who's currently banned, but I just don't see it a lot over here. TD has some attention-whore problems; but there are a ton of people who post exclusively on the OT. Everyone here seems to post on both boards

Yeah, no.

I've seen Cat, Belle, nite, coastie, and semo all get very into sports discussion. Depending on the game, they can get into flame wars with the best of the SECr.

I have seen Bellabama and a few others discuss baking, but mostly in IM threads or as passing comments in other stupid threads. That is still a rare occurence and does not mean the females do not get into their sports debate.

Personally I think it's valid. Mostly because you're assuming the sole reason for a female on the board having a feminine screen name is for attention whoring. You're way off (and I'm not shocked given your comment on female posting habits on the Rant).

I'm saying its no different then having something affiliated with a certain team. It's a preference. I don't expect you to "blend in" by having a nondescript screen name not associated with your favorite team.

frick, I'm a woman. I've always wondered why people assumed the name Killz was a male name? I just play along and massage my tits...
