Not gonna lie, I feel you. My brother was robbed and murdered in our apartment over graduation money.
If I feel like there is an inkling of danger, I am the first person to throw a blow. I'm the only son left and I'll be damned if I let some punk kill me over a few dollars like they did my brother.

In the big city you can avoid the ghetto. It isn't black people in general..it's the ghetto type of black people.
In the Delta, the ghetto type is fricking everywhere and you can't avoid it because the towns are so small. So you have to deal with it

Based on your story I think the punch was justified. Someone is drunk and fooling around their waste band, ranting about how all white people deserve to die, I'd probably freak the frick out.
It's easy to criticize someone for their actions when they don't know the gravity of the situation. My gut has gotten me out of a lot of bad situations. If you felt like you had to punch someone because you thought he might pull a weapon, then I don't blame you in the slightest.

I understand. People don't get the mindset until something like this happens to them. I've had a gun stuck in my face before..it was an eye opener. I will not, if I feel in any kind of danger, let it happen again.

I'm speaking in general here. If someone, of any color, shape or size is threatening me, a friend, or a loved one, I'd do what I had to do to end that situation as swiftly as possible.

Completely agree. If it can happen to you while you're sitting on your couch over $2,500, it can anywhere.

I've punched 2 black guys my entire life. I've punched at least 15 white people..one recently for hitting my girlfriend. I hate trashy people, plain and simple.

The way you bragged about refusing to put up with it was over the line, IMO.
But carry on, handle your business how you see fit and I'll do the same. It's not a stretch to say that race relations in your area aren't exactly up to par, though.

racist or not racist it sounds like he was just looking out for his own well being and that of his friends.
had the same scenario happened to a black man with a drunken white guy, I'd fully expect the black man to do whatever he felt was necessary to make sure he and everyone else was safe.
Of course I'm basing this off of his story. Not like I was there or anything.
