My wife and I have been on weekend trips with my parents but I probably wouldn't want to go with them somewhere for a whole week. That will almost certainly change with kids, though. I loved the trips we went on with my parents and grandparents as a kid.

Me and my wife have a kid and I'll damn sure go on a vacation with my parents or my inlaws any fricking day of the week... Pay for our own room and have a free babysitter so me and my wife can go out and get fricked up at night.. plus you know there's gonna be that night where you go out and eat a nice dinner and when we offer to pay for our portion of the bill the parents refuse to take my credit card... Once you have a kid you'll change your mind.

Married 18 years with two kids.

Been on vacations with my parents to Disney World and the beach a few times.

Been on vacation to the beach and NYC with my in-laws a few times.

Actually going on a 10 day cruise with my kids and in-laws in about a month.

So, no, I don't find it weird. We all like to travel and find it more fun to spend our time together in fun and interesting places rather than just sitting around at each others' homes.

Plus, free babysitters!

I'm married and we do this.

Disney World
Cruises
Beach Rentals
Casino Trips

We do everything together for the most part. My Moms side and My Dads side together. We are all close though because my mom and her sister married my dad and his brother. 2 sisters married 2 brothers so me and my cousins are all close like brother/sister.

My parents beg us to take my daughter when we all out of town. I had the greatest time in Atlantis because my parents were there and they watched my 2 year old girl for us so we could do stuff.

Nope. New Orleans. They lived a few blocks from each other all while growing up.

Just curious if 9 pages in you all have come to the consensus that if you're an adult and you go on holiday with the 'rents, you're indeed still suckling from the teet.

I'm more curious if you allow your mommy and daddy to pay for the trip? I'd even bet a few beers that adults that take their vacation time to go with their parents are 28 and still on a family plan with their cellphone.

FTR, I think it's awesome that you can spend 4-5 days with your family and have an enjoyable time. Personally, I can't and I don't, so I won't even attempt it. However, at the same time truly how independent are you? Mom and Dad are likely still buying you furniture, co-signing loans, and supplying seed money for the side business, and wrote the tuition checks every semester.

To answer the OP, I'd say once you can legally drive, that's when taking vacations with mom and dad should end.

I'm 42, been married 19 years and we go on family vacations each summer. We have a great time with the extended family.

Mostly beach vacations so we all pitch in on beach house or condo rental and divide up food bill.

I've not scrolled through all 9 pages of this thread but family vacations are something we look forward to each summer.

My parents do not pay anything for my family and haven't paid anything for me since I was 17. Once I moved out pretty much.

I think you are looking at it the wrong way that people without money only do these things and that Is definitely not the case with my family.

I don't think you're ever too old. My husband and I get along great with each other's parents, and we've been married 10 years.

We've done a few trips to the Bahamas with my parents because they have a time share in Nassau (we pay the annual fee when we go). We have done this before and since having kids.

We will also be going on a Disney trip next summer with both sets of parents, and will be paying everyone's way. Built in babysitters are awesome.
