I also run some 10K's each year, but nothing longer than that. Did a half marathon once, but it wasn't my favorite.

I cheered. And gymnastics.

Do NOT even try and say they aren't sports. I dare y'all to try either. (A&M cheering does not count)

Gymnastics requires incredible athleticism. Those who say it isn't a sport are overweight couch potatoes who peaked in high school.

In HS I played baseball and football. Could have played college level football but got to busy chasing tail. Got into karate at around 14. Later I Fought MMA for 8 years. Loved it but no money back then.
Now I’m thinking about taking up shuffle board.

Harry Rex played football, basketball (end man on the bench), baseball (hit .500!) and ran track in high school.

Played small college defensive back. Translation: I run down on kickoff team and then they tell me to get off the field. Played against future KC Chief WR Willie Davis. Translation: I think we were on the field at the same time once.

Played against Gus! Sure as hell don't remember him because I guess he was Henderson State's punter? There you go Duncan Idaho. Now you know.

As an adult: I count calories

V&S, interesting as our history seems quite similar

I was good enough for college and possibly semi pro but with family who had been professionals in their chosen sports I saw firsthand the price they paid for their careers (back then money was nowhere near what it is today and much more brutal). I excelled at sports where I got to hit people which surprised most who found out later because I am so opposite in general company.

Loved swimming and equestrian but boxing by far was the best for conditioning with possibly basketball as a distant 2nd. Soccer was more like rugby in my era and if I played today, I would have a red card in about the first few mins of the game today. Aside from hight issues, I would probably do well at basketball as it has gotten more about football and less about grace like ballet. As a Scot I was raised with Highland games so I like shot put. My Italian side did bocce so I like bowling.

Archery was popular when I was younger and I was always a good shot with a gun. Old school country boys were always good small game hunters and really good fishermen. Football may have been my best sport being stumpy (low center of gravity) and having powerful legs (ability to hit) in an age when running was preferred to passing. Oddly, tho I loved contact sports, my best sport may have been chess (and why I would steer younger kids away from boxing today) as by 3rd grade I could already beat the 12th graders but lost interest somewhere after college when I learned about pool and poker.

Played TE & SS in a very strong GHSA region - now Region 1-AAAAAAA, then AAAA. Played HS and small college (NAIA) basketball for 4 years. I now walk for exercise and live vicariously through my kids.

Welcome to middle age

Old age is similar but it is the grandkids and you can spoil them terribly.
