Can be anything they watched but said you couldn't, from a horror movie to R rated action and much worse

For me, it was End of Days. Have watched it since. Was a decent movie but I understand why I didn't get to watch it when I was younger

Not a movie but when GTA3 came out (i was about 10-11) i really wanted it.
Since it was Mature Toys R Us (yea that was still around) wouldn’t sell it to me because it was M for mature

My mom was with me and they told her what was in the game and she said no
It had nothing to do with the violence and cursing , it was the drug use and prostitution that my mom said no to

So basically I would just have to go to friends to play it

I had to wait awhile to be allowed to play San Andreas. Its still my favorite GTA. Can't believe mom didn't understand the allure of a game where you can hit people you carjack with a bat

It's a shame toys r us closed. Read that the company that bought them took out loans to do it and dumped the debt on them

big time.

That was the best.

By the time that one came out I went to Gamestop, they didn't ever "card" for Mature rated games.

The newer ones that came out on the newer consoles I never played to be honest, didn't care as much about them/video games as it got older.

But those 2 were definitely the peak PS2 times where everyone in school was talking about them.

The one thing though is I had a TV in my room growing up
And I knew how to navigate OnDemand and get the movies for free from say HBO or Showtime OnDemand so my parents wouldn’t have seen it come up on the bill

I knew they’d say no without even asking so just waited to do that

When I was 7 my parents rented Goonies for the baby sitter to show us while they went out for the evening. Unfortunately my dad is a bit like the absent minded professor and what he picked up from the video store was Ghoulies something. There was a scene where a raggedy Anne doll and a sock monkey just like the ones in our guest room comes to murderous life.. I don't remember the rest but I know I stayed up all night watching that guest room door and to this day those things still creep me out.

Fun fact.
That scene where Leo draws Kate.

The hand drawing Kate on the pad is actually James Cameron’s

Pops would buy movies and literally tape over parts he didnt want us to see. Watching a movie and out of no where........a 3 second family feud clip would come out of no where.

I am older than you guys probably but back in the day my parents added Showtime, HBO and cinemax and late at night one weekend after everyone was asleep my dad turned it to cinemax and there was a show on called Fiona. It was the next best thing to real porn. Saw my first bush. I was only 12 and he new I was watching. Well, the next day I was bragging to my little brother about it and out of jealousy he told my mom. I never watched anything like that again after that. I felt so bad for pops.

Titantic and Cape Fear were the biggest ones I remember. Pretty much anything with sex or nudity my parents were against. I still haven't seen Cape Fear.

I saw about every war movie that came out though. I probably saw Saving Private Ryan, Glory, Thin Red Line, Gettysburg, etc. before I was 13. I remember seeing Saving Private Ryan in theaters. My dad enjoyed the movies as well and knew I was interested in history all be it the story is part fiction.

My parents didn't really watch too many movies - they were more news/weather hounds plus some sitcoms and soaps here and there. They did take me to see Best Little Whorehouse and I just looked up the year it came out and I was 10. I was the youngest in the family so I pretty much got to watch whatever I wanted. I do remember staying up and watching horror movies and Lady Chatterley's lover at a way too young age.

I remember going to gamestop when I was a kid to buy it with my mom. She was cool with it and understood what it was about. The gamestop employee was basically trying to talk her out of it and kept going over what was in the game and if she was ok with me playing it. It was really strange but my mom didn't really care and said she trusted me.

Not a movie, but I wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter when it first got popular because "SATAN IS TRYING TO TEMP CHILDREN TO USE WITCHCRAFT!!!"
