So sorry, man. I lost my dad in March of last year. I think about him quite a bit. It will seem overwhelming at times, especially the next few days and even weeks. I know you will never be "OK" with it, but time really will help. As I think about mine now, I remember the good and funny moments and it's more smiles and laughs mixed in with the tears.

Hang in there!!

Yep, hold on to the good times. I hope my other post didn't offend you. I like you more than about 75% of the posters on here and wanted to get in your thread. I'd buy you a round if I could.

Strive for more in his name.

Yep. Lost mine a few years ago. He and I were never that close, and I miss him everyday. Never realized the importance he had in my life until he was gone.

Sorry for your loss. The pain never goes away, but it does get easier as time moves on.

Sorry for your Loss... I watch mine also tough thing to
do. I found the best thing to help me get through it was to remember the things he taught me, and remember
the laughs you shared together.

May God bless you and your family. Until you've lost a parent, spouse or child, you don't really understand what the term "heavy heart" means. You physically feel your soul being crushed under the weight of your sorrow. The good news is that time WILL help you to be able to deal with your pain, and eventually heal. Finally, the only thing you need to "give" to know about God and our future with him is your faith...he's real and if you sincerely declare that faith in him, to him, you'll know what I'm saying is true.
Again, God bless and pull your family close for the comfort that you need during this hard time.

I was fortunate to be able to care for mine as he lost his battle with congestive heart failure. It was tough watching him go through the final 6 months or so, but well worth the time he and I spent together.

Hate it for you bro.

Religion in a nutshell.

I'm sorry for your loss, man. Can't imagine losing a parent. It is hard when you don't believe to grasp the thought of never seeing them again.

But either way, you still have your life to live. I've resigned to the fact that nothing after this life is known, so it could be a party or it could be nothing, like before you were born. It takes practice, but I'm at peace with not knowing.

Incredibly sorry man, lost my previously very young, strong, and youthful (he was only 58) dad last April after only a month long battle with lung cancer

It's been 14 months and I still don't think I've really wrapped my head around it or that I ever will, honestly at a blank of what to say other than prayers to you and your family

Funeral today at 1:00. This is costing me a small fortune. He didn't want to be buried or cremated so he is being put to rest in a "not sure how to spell the word". I think I will be ok with cremation when I go.

Mausoleum?

Good luck today. You don't have to be strong or any of that shite. Just go and say goodbye to your old man.

That's it. Big turnout for the service. I didn't try to shield my emotions but I held it together better than I anticipated. Football season won't be the same this year without the old man calling me every time a flag is thrown or not thrown (yep, he was one of those fans).

My condolences on your loss. Losing a parent is very hard. I hope it was at least a comfort for you and him that you were able to be with him at the end.

This 100%. We always regret it later when we take time with our loved ones for granted.
