For

The idea of being able to vote without proving who you are is baffling to me.

Your argument is flawed.

Why should you have to prove who you are?

You're comparing apples to Muslims

Believing the suggested intent of the proposed law (election integrity) does not mean that you believe those proposing the law are doing it for the same reason.

For instance, you used Bert and the HUNH as your example. Well there are some people who truly believe that the HUNH is potentially dangerous for the athletes and naturally they are going to side with Bert and Saban who claim the same concern but actually many assume have ulterior motives.

Exactly. Some people arguing against the hurry up have ulterior motives. Just like some people who want voter IDs have ulterior motives. That's why I compared them in the first place. Are you trying to say these scenarios are dissimilar?

Not at all. Perhaps I've misunderstood but I was under the impression that you were implying that our A&M friend believed politicians motives were pure because his were. Thus inserting your bert comparison. Forgive me if I'm mistaken.

I'm just wondering why he thinks Bielema is lying, but politicians are telling the truth.

My point was, where did he say politicians are telling the truth?

One page back.

Yes I do.

Again, that is my point. He didn't say he believes that all republicans care about is election integrity. He said he does.

Ah I see where the confusion is coming from now. I took a different meaning of the word "issue" from your original question.

I may have the same confusion, but stand by my beliefs unswayed.

I do think that voter ID would stop some illegals from voting. I think on a more minimal front it'll stop "fraud"

Just because some people that suck (republicans) agree with it doesn't make it a bad thing. Do you stop supporting the Hogs because Republicans root for them as well? They may have racist ulterior motives (I doubt it, but I'm sure some are a holes like that,) but it doesn't mean the idea itself is bad.

I don't understand why any American that is concerned about the future of this entity would be opposed to voter ID?
It's just common sense. Every voter needs to have some skin in the game.

Is it bad if those people support voter ID because it will suppress certain minorities?

I didn't notice that their was any language about minorities in the law as it stands or V&S's question as posed.

I think that's inferred on the left's view. Again... Why do you think minorities wouldn't be able or willing to get an ID? Kinda bigoted.
